Taylor Swift has a knack for taking complicated real life events and turning them into memorable pop songs. An unlucky guy named Drew got the Taylor treatment with "Teardrops On My Guitar" and Joe Jonas was the inspiration behind "Forever & Always" -- a song that basically calls him a lying, capricious heart breaker. Taylor says her upcoming album, Speak Now, is comprised entirely of songs written as open letters to specific people in her life. Anyone named Taylor Lautner is probably not too thrilled. While the track list hasn't hit the Internet yet, we take a look at a few potential songs to figure out who Taylor might be writing to on the album. 1. "Powerless" (For Kanye West) Not content with basically letting Kanye West off the hook on the whole VMA interruption thing, Taylor puts together "Powerless." The surprise mash-up of Kanye's "Power" and "Fearless" lambasts his attempted comeback and grandiose non-video for his new single. The video starts where "Power" left off -- with Kanye about to have his head cut off by naked women with swords. Taylor interrupts it with her own video inexplicably set in a high school where Kanye is played metaphorically by a good looking Georgia boy in faded blue jeans. 2. "I Lycan You Too" (For Taylor Lautner) After she so openly dissed Joe Jonas in "Forever & Always," Taylor's fans are eagerly waiting to see if she'll write about "the werewolf from Twilight." She doesn't disappoint with a new single about their hairy relationship, but things end on an upbeat note as she declares that even though they didn't work out, "I Lycan You Too." 3. "Best When I'm On My Own" (For Stevie Nicks) What first sounds like a girl power ballad about not needing some loser boyfriend soon reveals itself to be a letter to Stevie Nicks suggesting that after the Grammy Awards incident they never duet again. Taylor concedes she was never meant to sing "Rhiannon" but suggests that Stevie's husky voice was equally unsuitable for "You Belong with Me." Taylor sings that while Stevie is "like a cat in the dark / With eyes like the Georgia stars / I think that we should go it alone / Cuz I'm best when I'm on my own." 4. "Tear Drops On My Autotuner" (For T-Pain) After collaborating on "Thug Song," T-Swizzle pens an open letter to T-Pizzle, consoling him on the death of autotune. "He says he's so in love with a box that makes his voice sound right / I wonder if he knows the DJ wouldn't play his song tonight / He's the reason for the teardrops on my autotuner / Keeps me wishing he'd dropped that gimmick sooner / He's the song in the car they keep playing / Don't know why they do." 5. "Sorry Joe (But You Kinda Had It Coming)" (For Joe Jonas) Taylor feels terrible about villifying Joe Jonas in a Top 40 pop song that's incredibly popular with his target audience. She tries her hand at writing him an apology, but despite her best efforts the song comes out as a warning to future boyfriends that they "Better not mess with me / Or everyone will hear about it on MTV." http://www.zimbio.com/Taylor+Swift/a...ting+New+Album |
