Default New Album not til Spring 2011

Got this from Nickslive...

STEVIE NICKS NEW CD.... "NOT TILL SPRING"
According to a Twitter exchange today between: Paul Rickard & Dave Stewart

paulsnyder90: @DaveStewart when are we getting new Stevie music!?!
DaveStewart: @paulsnyder90 not till spring

Not surprising, and makes sense given the fact that Stevie likes to tour around the release of albums.

Just like I've predicted the past 6 months. I still think it's highly probable it'll get delayed, too. Ms Nicks is not exactly known to be punctual.

Cool

Although I know the release dates of Stevie's albums are typically postponed, it is unfortunate that someone in her management does not think it would be a good idea to capitalize on the positive buzz about the new album and the general goodwill that the "Not A Tour" has generated so far. The reviews have been better than any I've ever seen for her shows. Even if she doesn't want to tour until after the first of the year, the album needs to be released sooner, rather than later. Apparently, the initial recording sessions went very quickly. There is no reason to delay the album for 6 or 7 months (or more).

I guess mixing the final tracks takes a while, plus I guess packaging it must take time too. Maybe it takes a while to find artists to create the sleave, photographers, and pick out the paper stock and fonts, and schedule it with a printer etc.

but I do agree, she should keep up the momentum! Unless there is some FM recording that she scheduled herself for in the fall? And that's why she's hoping for a spring release.

Maybe it isn't Stevie at all, maybe Dave Stewart wants the spring release. Maybe he'll tour with her, playing guitar. Maybe Annie Lennox and Siobahn Fahey will show up on tour too?

Indeed. I'm guessing the album drop date is in the Spring so she can hit "the sheds" (amphitheaters) during the late Spring/Summer months. Stevie tours almost exclusively in those outdoor venues (unlike Fleetwood Mac, which mainly does indoor venues these days).

She released both Soundstage and Crystal Visions in March, so I would love to believe that her new album will come out in March too! however, as you guys have pointed out, she likes to tour closer to the summer, and our Stevie has a warped view of time. My guess is that it will come out late May or June, or hell maybe even July. That way they can market the **** out of the whole "Ten years since her last solo album!". However, it will also be the 30th anniversary of Bella Donna and Stevie's solo career. I think it'd be awesome if they not only released the new album and the documentary, but remastered BD and threw on some old demos or dvd footage (Hello, remaster BD with a disc of demos and a DVD of the HBO special with all the songs performed that night! Chiffon heads would cream their pants for days!). It could be marketing gold if they could get Stevie's name out there and then hit everyone with new **** while the Stevie wave was going on. I guess we shall see. I won't hold my breath.

And to think some people were adamant it would be out in June of this year!

Roll on next spring!

I was really hoping for late 2010, but if Spring 2011 means a big promotional push marking the 30th Anniversary of her solo career, then I'm all for it.

Well Dave is mixing his album right now, and he said the single for his album will be out in January, and the album will be out in March, so apparently, that's how long it takes. And some artists release a single 3-4 months before the album release date, so unfortunately, we all have to be a little more patient. But spring will be here soon enough!

If you are a "Stevie - Shwag" junkie, like me...then this Spring release date gives you PLENTY of time to save your money for the T-shirts, tour books, posters, the front row tickets, the travel expenses, etc...and of course 3 or 4 copies of the album.

I think it's safe to say that, as before, the album will leak and/or stream way in advance of the official release date. If they are talking spring, I expect to start hearing tracks in late winter. I simply do not have the stamina to resist the urge to listen to anything I can get my grubby paws on.

If true, it's vaguely disappointing, but whenever the cd comes, it comes.
I don't believe Dave is always totally honest- he said lead vocals had yet to be done, after David Wild had raved about the tracks, and within 2 weeks Stevie said 14 songs were completed.
It seems that Dave decided or had been told to 'play down' how far along they were with the project; his information turned out to be far from complete. Stevie filled us in on that when she was ready to, and will likely tell us, when she's ready, when to expect the new cd. And I bet the information won't be the same as Dave's.
I'm still hoping for October. Photo session is done, album is recorded, it's said to be good. Too much time tweaking and mixing can (and has) sucked vitality out of good Stevie material on past albums. Stop tinkering and release it.
'Spring' will cancel any Azoff plans for Fleetwood Mac touring in 2011, though 2012 always seemed more likely to me.

Why wait til she turns 63?
Rush release something for a change! It's time.

No one REALLY knows what's completed. All 14 tracks might be completed "musically", but maybe without lead or background vocals...and maybe 2 weeks was all it took for Stevie to record her vocals. Who knows?

BTW, Nikolaj, you said the photo session is done? Who said this and when did we get this information?

Regardless if it comes out this Fall, Winter or next year sometimes, as long as it's a great, solid record, I'll be a happy camper. We've all waited YEARS in the past. 9 years since the last solo record, what's a few more months?

Some photographer mentioned on her Myspace that she was doing a photoshoot of Stevie in April. And, there are several professional pics of her and Dave, so I am assuming they have done some sort of photoshoot. But I think TISL was fully completed and ready to hit the stores in Sept 2000, but they held it until May 2001. So it just seems like typical Stevie. I'm really bummed tho. With all the talk about it being dark and deeply personal and there being "blood" on the tracks and lots of ghosts and vampires, I was hoping she would release it in Oct and evoke all her witchy haunting Stevieness for the halloween season.

No one should be the least bit surprised that the album is slated for a spring release, that should have been expected all along. One reason being that Stevie doesn't like touring in the winter. "Rock A Little" was released in November, but the tour didn't start until the following March (by then two singles had already been released). Stevie said then she wanted to wait to release the album until it was closer to the tour, but the label wanted it out in time for Christmas. These days a Stevie album isn't going to make a huge dent in holiday sales, so they can wait.
Keep in mind all of her previous albums have had the dates changed numerous times before coming out, with some getting scrapped altogether (The live Melbourne album, the Best Of album, the Rumours boxed set). Also just because she says certain songs will on the album, doesn't mean they will be. A press release for "The Wild Heart" listed songs (including "Violet & Blue") that would be on the album and they weren't. Finally there is the whole "Street Angel" mess (which also had an entirely different list of songs press released), a promo CD, "The Best Of The Hits So Far" was issued in early '93 promoting "Street Angel, to be released in March (of '93)" The end of the blurb on the CD says "And how does Stevie feel about getting the new album out? Just listen to track 5" Track five by the was "I Can't Wait".
