Question Galveston, Texas- Anyone Visit There?

I've been looking up other potential areas to live in and have been checking out the beach town of Galveston, Texas. Are any of you all familiar with the area and whatnot? Looks like real estate is decently priced compared with many areas in Florida!!

I can give you a few reasons NOT to live there.

1) It's Texas

2) It's already been destroyed by a hurricane once, it'll happen again.

3) Did I mention, it's TEXAS???

I gotta agree with chili on this one

Why dontcha live on Long Island? While the houses do tend to be expensive, the people are nuts on the roads, and there are some hard-to-pronounce Indian names for towns (such as Copiague and Ronkonkoma), it's a nice little place. And if you live in Suffolk County, you can visit me!

The song Galveston by Glenn Campbell is one of my all time favorite songs. I wonder when the oil spill will reach the shores of Galveston?

Sooner than they'll hit Kentucky, that's for sure.

And with that girl living in Kentucky, how can one go wrong?

ethan, i think galveston is a good choice. of course, i'm always partial to kentucky, but galveston is also first class. i have a few friends who live there, so if you have any questions, let me know and i'll make sure to get you in touch with them.

Y'all are soooo goofy!!!

I'm just not a fan of cold winters at all- they REALLY drag me down. Plus I love a coastal atmosphere, so who knows- one day I may end up somewhere south. Other than the cold though, I have not too much to complain about with KY!

OK, then LI is DEFINITELY not for you. We get some nasty snow storms in the winter, and my school (Stony Brook) catches some nasty North Shore "breezes" in the winter that could knock you off your feet.

Long Island? Yeah, SBU is known for being science-y and they have a hospital on East Campus (or as I call it, the other side) that's supposed to be really good (and my jackass philo professor last semester had an office there).

Not really. People sometimes spell it with a Y, but my last name (which i'm not posting) tends to be screwed up to hell.
