Default Stand Back from SNL

Hey,
does anyone have an mp3 of this performance? The version that Stevie performed on Saturday Night Live in 1983 is my favourite Stand Back and I'm desperate to have it on my Stevie playlist
Any one have it?
Thanks!

Does anyone else happen to have it - or maybe explain how to upload mp3s onto the board. I have no idea how to do things like that.

The easiest way is to use mediafire. Or send it me in an email (PM me and I'll give it you) and I'll put it on my account. Mediafire links don't time out either.

Sensational!!! Whoever said it was so much better than the way it's been done in the last few years is correct, and it's not just because of her age!

Hi, there! welcome back!
I'm surprised to hear you say this because I thought you preferred the more mature, softer, "wiser" performer to the old quivery emotionalism.

"Stand Back" went from synth rock in 1983 (& maybe 1986) to techno rock with Fleetwood Mac. The switch never felt right to me. The latter rendition always felt too manic or rushed or something. The song does have a straightaway 4/4 grandeur that gets lost in its techno incarnation, where it just tumbles out all at a single dynamic. In 1983, the rendition grew in intensity, storylike, to the final shouts, which were the climaxes after the rising action.

Hi David!

I'd rather have a controlled and decent vocal delivery than screaming and screeching. But ultimatley, I love a vocal performance that is dynamic and rock and roll all the way. She does that here, spot on.

I TOTALLY agree with your assessment of "Stand Back" as it has progressed over the years. I miss that slower delivery of the song as opposed to the "rushed" delivery of late. Maybe Stevie could handle the song better vocally if it was done that way again.

I LOVE this!! It is the ULTIMATE performance of this song! She's so sexy here -- though coked out of her mind. I love where she sings "it was more than I could .. more than I could do .. one man, well he could not fall but he asked me for my love and that was all..."

Great post and I agree. I really don't like the way Stand Back's been done since RAL.
Oh and I'd paid top dollar to see Stevie do that on the stage today lol .

I'm so glad you all enjoyed this, it used to be on YouTube but they kept pulling it. Definetely my fave SB ever... especially where she drops the word "room" from "in the middle of my-" in the last chorus.

My favorite ever is Los Angeles Oct. 2, 1983. But the audio is pretty bad. Still, it's so good that I'd pay $5,000 for a soundboard or radio recording of it.
