So I was just watching the Letterman performance of "Blue Denim" for the first time in a long time, and I was reminded of something that I don't get, so I thought I'd see if any of you fine folks know the answer.
When Letterman is introducing her in the beginning, he picks up the phone, and a voice that I think is Stevie's says what sounds like, "Mustafa, Molly, Morgan." Where did that come from? What does it mean? Any ideas? I consulted the Oracle (y'know...Google), and came up with nada. Here's the video for reference (I love her in the interview after the performance, she's so cute):

It was a running comedic bit from earlier in that night's show. I forget the context, though...

Oh okay. Is it Stevie's voice? My first impression was yes, but then after a few listens, I thought, no, maybe not...now I can't tell at all anymore. Oy.

I don't think it was Stevie's voice. But Stevie freaking rocked this performance!!

I forget what the bit was about but I remember the voice on the phone is Connie Chung.

i think she sounds great in this performance...but u can see how self conscious she is wen she is walking out on stage...her expresssion in her eyes...there is none....she looks removed or something...so sad but inspirational at the same time as she found out wat needed to be fixed before it was too late....never stopped loving her and she never lost her rock and roll voice,

Stevie and Dave seem to have great chemistry however her performance of “Blue Denim” on Leno was better in my opinion. There was a lot more passion vocally and the band really rocked it out.

Okay, so we'll consider this one answered then - something to do with a skit, likely not Stevie's voice. It sounded raspy enough to me that I thought if it was a phone recording made using the latest technology of the time, it might be her, but I couldn't decide for sure either way. Thanks, guys!
I have not seen this Leno performance that was mentioned, but I'd love to if anyone has it handy. I like the Letterman performance quite a lot, even though you can tell she's feeling a little shy and unhappy about the weight.
