Default Need Some Suggestions...

So some of you know I am going to Disney World(Florida) in like 44 days. March 18-March 22. Now I have never been to Florida or Disney OR even on a plane!!! Yea 19(almost 20) and I never been on a plane for been to Disney!

Now I am going to Disney w/ my friend Ashley and her parents and sister. They gave me some tips on what to bring, but I thought I'd ask you guys too. So guys...any tips on what kinda stuff I should bring. Now March in New England is COLD...so I'd wear jeans, tshirt and a sweatshirt...but from what I hear I need shorts and what not...I only have 1 pair of shorts....lol

Check what the average temp is there during march. Take rechargeable batteries for your camera because everything in Disney is way overpriced. Comfortable shoes are a must! And money, lots of it because anything you wanna buy is really expensive! Enjoy it! I was 28 when I took Sara, and cried when we had to leave. Haha! I really loved Disney!

Florida can be really hit or miss this time of year. I had a friend who went the first week of March and was freezing the entire time because she had just brought spring clothes. I went the following week and I was wearing tank tops and capris. So just keep an eye on the weather and be sure to take a sweatshirt at the very least.

Disney is so much fun! I just came back from Florida a few weeks ago and am kind of bummed we didn't get a chance to go. Be sure to do all the completely cliche things like watch the parade and the fireworks at the end of the night. Be sure NOT to buy things you can buy at the Disney store at home. I know how those stores like to suck you in, though. ha hah.

Have fun and have a safe trip!

Good idea to look up the average temp!! My camera takes a rechargeable battery so I just gotta remember the charger...lol Oh yes my friend told me to bring like 2 pairs incase one pair gets wet...lol I also knew about the $$...lol

I'll probably cry when I gotta leave...lol

My grandmother lives in Florida so around March i'll probably ask her to update me on the weather LOL

We already have a schedule because my friend is in the High School marching band and we're going w/ the band...So they have a set schedule..we'll be seeing all the shows and they will be performing in the parade Saturday(hopefully to THRILLER!!). I'm sure Ashley will give the 411 on what to buy and what not to buy while I'm there...this is her 5th time going.

Thanks =D I'm more paranoid about the plane ride xD

Disney! How exciting!!

Like someone else said, the weather is very unpredictable in Florida in March. It can be 85 degrees or it can be 35 degrees. Definitely plan for the unexpected! And plan to layer. Even on the days where it does get into the 70s and 80s it's still cold in the mornings and once the sun goes down.

I've been to Disney twice in the past 3 years. Here's a few things I did/learned while I was there.

1) Wear sneakers or another type of comfortable shoes in the parks. I can't tell you how much you'll probably be standing in long lines and how many times you may get stepped on or your toes run over by a stroller. Save the flip-flops for the hotel and pool.

2) Take advantage of FastPass, which is basically a reservation for a later time for a short line at the most popular attractions. It's free.

3) Consider a park-hopper ticket. I don't think it's that much more a day and it gives you the flexibility to move around as much as you want. Like Animal Kingdom pretty much closes at sundown and you might want to enjoy another park like Magic Kingdom or Epcot into the night. Even if you already have your tickets, you can upgrade when you get to the parks. But you might need to do it before you first use your ticket.

4) Buy a poncho at Target or a drug store/dollar store. They charge like 4 or 5 dollars for one in the parks. So not worth it. And don't let some rain deter you. And there's a good chance it will rain...just about every day. But usually in Florida it will rain for 20 minutes and then it will be sunny as can be. Be prepared for that to. Not like how it is here in the northeast.

5) If you are staying at a hotel on Disney property they offer free transportation to the parks. Plus you also get extra hours in the park by showing your room card. Also, you can get free transportation from the airport to the hotel. But if you aren't staying on a disney property, don't worry cause all the parks are pretty close together and you can get around pretty easily.

Here's my favorite Disney website that I refer to for all sorts of info and it's updated constantly: www.allears.net

I'm sure I can think of more, but that's the ones that come to mind right now. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions, especially about planes. I consider myself an airplane geek and can help you with general questions about airports and airplanes.

And finally, remember to enjoy yourself. It really is the one place I can agree is one of the happiest places on earth!

These might sound obvious but I'm going to suggest some practical things.

1.) Don't forget your I.D. I know it's like, "DUHHH!" but it's easy to forget it when you're rushing out the door and they won't let you on the plane without it. Also, leave plenty of time to get to the airport - it's not "untoward" to try to be at the airport 2 hours before the scheduled time.

2.) Bring some sort of emergency money and hide it somewhere.

3.) DON'T put anything valuable in your luggage. I once mentioned to my parents when they were going on a trip that they shouldn't put their cell phones in their luggage; but they thought it was a little bit of overkill, "paranoid," etc. One of them had their cell phone stolen from their luggage by the airport workers.

4.) Bring a jacket. It's not totally unheard of for it to get a little chilly at night in Florida. Maybe an umbrella too, if there's room for it.

5.) Comfy shoes/sneakers. Disney makes for a LONNNNG, fun day and you're gonna be waiting on lines and walking around for much of that.

6.) Suntan lotion, for obvious reasons.

7.) Something to carry your stuff easily in, again because you're gonna be "on your feet" all day.

Well that's all I can think of for now but have FUN!

P.S. - Oh and don't worry too much about the plane flight, that really should be exciting and fun. Statistically it really is MUCH safer than driving and the Boston to Florida run is an easy cakewalk for these people.

Thanks GT...I'll probably get one of those drawstring "backpack" bag things to put my stuff in...I'll probably pre-pack that and put it in my carry on w/ my wallet and stuff and have an extra change of clothes or 2 and my make up(or lack of make up..lol) etc.

I'll probably bring a couple sweatshirts and a pair or 2 of jeans, capris, shorts, 2 bathing suits, 2 sneakers, PLENTY of socks and undies...lol, uhhhh tshirts GALORE

Knowing me I'll WAAAY overpack
