Default Multiple Versions of The Nightmare

Hey folks,

I was going through my music files this evening and happened on a discovery. Apparently there are two versions of "The Nightmare" out there. The version that ended up on Rock A Little and a second longer and more intricate version.

The second version, seems to be more fully realized in my opinion. It has the traditional verse chorus verse structure, more intricate guitar and so forth. The album version seems to be a bunch of verses strung together with the chorus at the end...

I much prefer the alt version I discovered. Why is it some of the best songs or best outtakes get left off albums?

To quote Stevie: "Because what you think is the best and what I think is the best are totally different things."

The same can be said about the RAL version of "I sing for the things" and the rockier bootleg, the "Smile at you" on SYW (thanks, Lindsey) and the "angry" version...

The alternate version is noted for being less synth-heavy and has a lot more guitar work. It is absolutely a more accessible version of the song.
