Some of those are fabulous!

I experimented a while back with making GIFs, with some success (the first one in vermicious kind's post is mine) but software issues and the fact that the files are HUGE made me give up.

I used a video decompiler to extract single frames of the video into individual image files. SC Free Video Decompiler was the best I found but the trial on it ran out, or something like that. Then I strung them all together with a GIF creator. These are everywhere and it's really trial and error to find the one that does what you want it to. Easy GIF Animator was my preferred software, though there are probably others out there which are just as good (and free).

You really need to set a bit of time aside to experiment with this, particularly with frames per second and other settings to get the GIF looking exactly as you want. I'm sure there's a way to convert video files directly to GIF, but as yet I haven't found one.

Also, does anyone have any advice on how to make GIF files smaller? I don't mean reducing the picture size, I mean reducing the actual file size, some of mine are several MB ...

Good luck, and thanks for posting these great animations!

Ha, lies, Mick Fleetwood! When I met him in May, my dad was full of interesting questions for him. One of the first questions my dad asked was, "so it is more fun being Mick Fleetwood on tour with Fleetwood Mac now or thirty years ago?" He looked at my dad with a little exasperation and said, "well, in all truth, I'm sure it was more fun back then. But I don't have a pot of brandy in me already [6pm, show starts at 8] when I would have on those tours. We just can't afford that **** anymore."
