I was listening to storms and one of the lines
"I did not deal with the road" is pretty similar to violet and blue "We both love the road, but the roads are different" Wondering what everyone thinks about this. thought it'd be a chill topic. I think the road she's talkin about is the path to her happiness, what she feels is best for herself. When she was breaking up with Mick she was doing something that didnt make her happy, she wasnt following the path she thought she needed to make her happy. and for violet and blue I think she's saying that she and whoever she was into around that time ultimately couldnt get along together because they both wanted to make themeselves happy, and in doing that they both wanted different things, their roads were different. idk. lemme know what you guys think |

"I did not deal with the road"
is pretty similar to violet and blue "We both love the road, but the roads are different" To me "the road" in Storms is about touring. It was hard for her on her voice to do those long tours. In Violet and Blue I believe she is talking about another famous person, also on some tour. Not the same tour she's on cause he's in another band. And they both love touring. For a long time back then she complained about the Fleetwood mac tours but never about her solo tours. |

The Road is often times used as a metaphor for life, since life is always changing!

I also have always thought as the road meaning different paths of life. But I think that meaning applies better in Violet and Blue than it does in Storms. I've always really loved both of those parts in the songs.

When they came to NH in June, SN started singing the wrong verse to Storms after the first chorus. When she found her place and sang the line, "and I did not deal with the road," she put her hands out wide. That was followed by the univeral sign for crazy (fingers in circles by the temple). I'm pretty sure that night "The Road" meant touring....which is also how I always interpreted it in the song.
