Thanks! I've heard a lot about Atlas Sound from Animal Collective forums but this is the first thing I've heard. It's keeps the same sort of spacey atmostphere of the original.

Thanks for sharing that! I like it. I find that any of LB's Tusk songs, when covered, sound at the least very interesting...like the Vetiver cover of SMAP. It sounds so similar to the original but for some reason the way it is sung makes me reevaluate the lyrics...they are SO beautiful.

The Vetiver cover of SMAP is very nice as well. It's nice to see Lindsey getting quite a few covers in the indie world these days.

Atlas Sound :: Walk A Thin Line (Fleetwood Mac)
Published on Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 at 5:04 pm One has to appreciate life’s small synchronicities. I’ve recently been binging on Fleetwood Mac’s 1979 Tusk album, and today (if you haven’t noticed around the world wide web) Atlas Sound posted a cover of the LP’s “Walk A Thin Line” on their Deerhunter blog. Very stripped down. Filed under: Atlas Sound | You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.0 feed. You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site. Related Posts 2 Responses to “Atlas Sound :: Walk A Thin Line (Fleetwood Mac)” Long-time lover of Tusk here, and I highly recommend taking the time to trim out the fat on that album (and by “fat,” I mean anything not by Lindsey Buckingham, except for “Sara,” “Honey Hi” and “Think About Me”). Cut the rest of the tracks out and load it up on your iPod, it makes for an even more enjoyable listening experience. The Atlas Sound cover isn’t bad, stays pretty true to the original. 1 | Aaron August 13th, 2009 at 9:53 am Excellent cover of an amazing song. I love the Tusk album - it’s been on my list of top 5 favorite records - since 1979. 2 | mox August 13th, 2009 at 10:59 am http://www.aquariumdrunkard.com/2009...fleetwood-mac/ |

"Walk a Thin Line" (Fleetwood Mac Cover)
August 12, 2009 8:27 a.m. by Nick Neyland The Deerhunter blog isn’t the thriving hub of activity that it once was, but Bradfod Cox still stops by to offer exclusive material every now and then. The new Atlas Sound album, Logos, is due in October, and Cox will be touring with U.K. retro-futurists Broadcast and Atlanta band the Selmanaires to promote the record. Here, he offers a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Walk a Thin Line,” which originally appeared on the notorious Tusk album. Cox’s affecting rendition of Lindsey Buckingham’s song is more guitar oriented than his prior solo outing, but still contains a melancholy undertow that makes it instantly recognizable as an Atlas Sound track. http://www.prefixmag.com/media/atlas...ownload/31708/ |

Take cover: Having sworn off cover songs altogether somewhere around the time of Michael Bolton’s Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay (a blasphemous take that still makes me want to gouge out my eardrums with a metal spike), I was more than a little trepidatious when I stumbled across Atlas Sound’s cover version of an old favourite: Fleetwood Mac’s Walk a Thin Line. People go around botching other people’s songs all the time, but messing with Fleetwood Mac? That’s grounds for war! So it was a pleasant surprise to discover how faithful this stripped-down track is to the worn-out vibe of the original Tusk gem. Atlas singer Bradford Cox is even able to recreate some of Lindsay Buckingham’s guitar and vocal flourishes.
Bolstered by this positive experience, I decided to go forth and road test two other new takes on old favourites, with wildly varying results. First up was Broken Social Scene’s contribution to The Time Traveler’s Wife soundtrack, a take on Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart. http://www.cbc.ca/arts/media/blogs/p..._broken_s.html |
