Spread some wisdom, love, laughs-- anything you want. If you have a favorite quotation, post it here to share.
"We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we may only fly by embracing one another." - Luciano de Crescenzo "A poet is an unhappy being whose heart is torn by secret sufferings, but whose lips are so strangely formed that when the sighs and the cries escape them, they sound like beautiful music... and then people crowd about the poet and say to him: 'Sing for us soon again;' that is as much as to say, 'may new sufferings torment your soul.'" - Soren Kierkegaard |

I adore this poem, although its a little abstract for a lot of people.
since feeling is first who pays any attention to the syntax of things will never wholly kiss you; wholly to be a fool while Spring is in the world my blood approves, and kisses are a better fate than wisdom lady i swear by all flowers. Don't cry - the best gesture of my brain is less than your eyelids' flutter which says we are for each other; then laugh, leaning back in my arms for life's not a paragraph And death i think is no parenthesis - ee cummings |

One of my best friends has this cummings poem tattooed on the inside of his forearm. It's not remotely one of my favorites, but I think it was a great visual choice, for obvious reasons. l(a le af fa ll s) one l iness The only problem I have with his tattoo is that the font he chose loses the impact of the "l"s being both numbers and letters. This is one of my favorite quotes from Eugene O'Neill's "Long Day's Journey into Night" "It wasn't the fog I minded, Cathleen. I really love fog. It hides you from the world and the world from you. You feel that everything has changed, and nothing is what it seemed to be. No one can find or touch you any more. Its the foghorn I hate. It won't let you alone. It keeps reminding you, and warning you, and calling you back."

Didn't know you were on here Danni, welcome to The Ledge! ![]() Blade Runner: "The report read 'Routine retirement of a replicant.' That didn't make me feel any better about shooting a woman in the back." "I've seen things you 'people' wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams ... glitter in the dark near Tanhauser Gate. All those ... moments will be lost ... in time, like tears ... in rain. Time ... to die. "I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want." "It's too bad she won't live! But then again, who does?" Star Trek: Kirk: "I wouldn't presume to debate you." Spock: "That would be wise." Kirk: "Death... destruction, disease, horror, that's what war is all about. That's what makes it a thing to be avoided. You've made it neat and painless. So neat and painless, you've had no reason to stop it... All right. Instinctive. But the instinct can be fought.! We're human beings with the blood of a million savage years on our hands... But we can stop it! We can admit that we're... killers. But we're not going to kill today. That's all it takes! Knowing that we're not going to kill... TODAY!" Samantha Power: "Because of the way the stories turned out, and indeed because of the way genocide KEEPS turning out, it is easy to view these individuals as overly credulous or politically obtuse. But . . . how many of us do not believe that the presidents, senators, bureaucrats, journalists, and ordinary citizens who did nothing, choosing to look away rather than to face hard choices and wrenching moral dilemmas - were wrong? And how can something SO clear in retrospect become so muddled at the time by rationalizations, institutional constraints, and a lack of imagination? How can it be that those who fight on behalf of these principles are the ones deemed unreasonable?" Rudyard Kipling: "AT two o'clock in the morning, if you open your window and listen, You will hear the feet of the Wind that is going to call the sun. And the trees in the shadow rustle and the trees in the moonlight glisten, And though it is deep, dark night, you feel that the night is done. " The X-Files: "I want to believe." "Maybe there's hope." FBI Boss: "Are you acquainted with Mr. Fox Mulder? Scully: "I AM." FBI Boss: "How?" Scully: "By reputation." Scully: "Tie goes to the runner!" Scully (narrating): - "SCULLY: I feel time like a heartbeat, the seconds pumping in my breast like a reckoning. The numinous mysteries that once seemed so distant and unreal, threatening clarity in the presence of a truth entertained not in youth, but only in it's passage. I feel these words as if their meaning were weight being lifted from me, knowing that you will read them and share my burden, as I have come to trust no other. That you should know my heart, look into it, finding there the memory and experience that belong to you, that are you, is a comfort to me now as I feel the tethers loose and the prospects darken for the continuance of a journey that began not so long ago, and which began again with a faith shakened and strengthened by your convictions, if not for which I might never have been so strong now." Mulder: "I think they went left." Scully: "I don't know why, I think they went right." Mulder: [looks left, looks right, then drives straight ahead.] "You CAN'T bury the truth!" More from "The X-Files"
![]() Scully (voiceover) - "From Space, it seems an abstraction-- a magician's trick on a darkened stage. And from this distance one might never imagine that it is alive. It first appeared in the sea almost four billion years ago in the form of single-celled life. In an explosion of life spanning millions of years, nature's first multicellular organisms began to multiply... and then it stopped. 440 million years ago, a great mass extinction would kill off nearly every species on the planet leaving the vast oceans decimated and empty. Slowly, plants began to evolve, then insects, only to be wiped out in the second great mass extinction upon the Earth. The cycle repeated again and again. Reptiles emerging, independent of the sea only to be killed off. Then dinosaurs, struggling to life along with the first birds, fish, and flowering plants - their decimations Earth's fourth and fifth great extinctions. Only 100,000 years ago, Homo Sapiens appear-- man. From cave paintings to the bible to Columbus and Apollo 11, we have been a tireless force upon the earth and off cataloguing the natural world as it unfolds to us. Rising to a world population of over five billion people all descended from that original single cell, that first spark of life. But for all our knowledge, what no one can say for certain, is what or who ignited that original spark. Is there a plan, a purpose or a reason to our existence? Will we pass, as those before us, into oblivion, into the sixth extinction that scientists warn is already in progress? Or will the mystery be revealed through a sign, a symbol . . . a Revelation?." From "The Dark Knight" (Most recent Batman movie) - "James Gordon Jr.: Why's he running, Dad? Lt. James Gordon: Because we have to chase him. James Gordon Jr.: He didn't do anything wrong. Lt. James Gordon: Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him because he can take it." Albert Einstein: ""The eternal mystery of the world is its comprehensibility." "A human being is a part of a whole, called by us _universe_, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." Neils Bohr, talking to a reporter in his office: Reporter: "I see you have a horseshoe over your doorway. People put horseshoes on their walls because they think it will bring them good luck. Surely you don't believe in such things?" Neils Bohr: "Of COURSE not. I am an educated physicist." Reporter: "Then why do you have a horseshoe over your doorway?" Neils Bohr: "Most people believe it - I could be wrong."
