LASERIUM - The Iconic Laser Light Show - Opens With Classic and Contemporary Programming in New Home at Hollywood & Vine
--Vine Theater Lights Up June 25, 2009 as 21st Century Laserium CyberTheater Flagship Anchors Affordable Family Entertainment in 'New Hollywood'

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., May 15, 2009 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- On June 25th 2009, the all-new Laserium CyberTheater opens at the refurbished Vine Theater, located at Hollywood's most famous intersection, Hollywood and Vine. After playing to 20 million fans in 46 cities, including 28 years at the Griffith Park Observatory, Laserium, the internationally recognized brand that is synonymous with laser shows and displays, is now back, with a brand new experience for young and old alike.

The Laserium CyberTheater will offer a variety of experiences, including technologically updated versions of three of the most popular Classic Laserium shows, featuring music from Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, the Beatles, and Led Zeppelin. The new venue will also present brand new shows with exciting and interactive technology, and live entertainment featuring the hottest new bands, iconic performers and theme nights. The redesigned 424 seat theater will feature two LightDancer musical instruments, an extended stage for live performances, multiple screens and surround sound with immersive lasers and computer graphics to create an experience that visitors will want to come back to again and again. Online ticketing and detailed information are available at www.LASERIUM.com.

The LightDancer interactive light instrument makes its world premiere at the new venue. These unique patented, musical devices (the only two in the world) allow audience members to literally "step into the light" and create their own accompaniments to yesterday's and today's top hit songs by moving through, and breaking, beams of light. Audience members participate in the show and create music which is always in tune and in time with the score being played. The LightDancers also trigger video, laser and lighting effects, effortlessly allowing the audience members to become laserists, DJ's and VJ's (video jockeys) while "playing-the-light." This is a one of a kind interactive experience that promises to become a favorite of kids and adults alike.

Upon opening in June, the CyberTheater will feature 15 shows per week from Wednesday through Sunday, with the following family-friendly shows and pricing including $10.00 tickets for all shows for children 12 and under accompanied by an adult. [pricing omitted]

The Laserium CyberTheater is also available for select private parties, corporate events, premieres and charity fundraisers.

Mick Fleetwood, co-founder of the band Fleetwood Mac, has accepted the position of official spokesperson for the new Laserium and will personally appear at Laserium on opening days June 25 and June 26 to greet fans. Fleetwood gives a video demonstration of the LightDancer at www.MyLASERIUMTV.com. Noted as Mick Fleetwood's favorite dining destination, Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar will offer guests special discounts on Laserium shows this summer. Fleming's special offers will be available in Fleming's locations June 1 through August 31. For a Fleming's restaurant locator, visit www.FlemingsSteakhouse.com.

Laserium is an international trademarked brand, and holds a family-friendly reputation for a unique and uplifting entertainment experience. The company will open the flagship venue with a five-year minimum run at the Vine Theater. Advance tickets are available for purchase at www.LASERIUM.com. Because the theater has a limited seating capacity, everyone is strongly encouraged to buy tickets online and well in advance to ensure getting a seat.

Come step into the light.... Beginning June 25th 2009.

The combination of Fleming's Steakhouse, Laserium Cybertheater, and Mick's wines sounds really good right about now.

However, my budget is more like Taco Bell, Blockbuster movie rentals, and the finest wines 7-11 has to offer. I don't think Mick's wines come in a box....

Get a free Fleetwood song - and a $12 glass of wine

Drummer Mick Fleetwood (left) of Fleetwood Mac fame won't be your sommelier, but Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is offering a chardonnay experience that may be the next best thing - along with a free download of a new Fleetwood song.

Fleming's, a chain with 63 restaurants including one on Boston's Stuart Street, has teamed up with the famous musician to allow patrons to "indulge in Fleetwood’s two greatest passions: music and wine," Fleming's said in a press release.

When not drumming in a rock 'n' roll band, Fleetwood has evolved from a mere connoisseur of fine wines to a practitioner of oenology. In 2002, according to Fleming's press release, he launched the Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar with the help of a business partner.

"Currently, he works with seven different winemakers and wineries (including Mike Brown of Lucas & Lewellen in Santa Barbara and Firestone in Santa Ynez) to produce several varietals with grapes grown in California and Washington state," said the press release, which added that Fleming restaurants will be featuring selections from the Fleetwood cellar, including a chardonnay and a cabernet sauvignon, by both the bottle and the glass. (What, no blush zinfandel?)

Restaurant patrons will also have a chance to buy Fleetwood’s new, limited edition CD titled "Blue Again." What's more, visitors to Fleming's website can sign up to get a free download of a Fleetwood MP3 titled “When We Do The Lucky Devil,” the press release said

To get the download, folks have to be willing to share some basic information such as name and e-mail address. Folks who choose to do so can expect to get occasional newsletter-style promotional e-mails in return for the song.

The photo of Fleetwood that appears with this post was taken from Fleming's website, which credits Jonathan Todd of Sabre Entertainment for the picture.

Los Angeles Magazine
http://www.lamag.com/eat/blog.aspx?dt=05/29/2009

For those of you who caught the Fleetwood Mac show at the Staples Center last night, here’s where Mick Fleetwood was the night before. The legendary drummer hosted an intimate tasting event at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse at L.A. Live to feature his award winning wines—Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar. Mick says he gauged many of the Fleetwood Mac tours by the food and wine they stumbled upon (probably literally—it WAS the late ‘70s) along the way. Mick became quite a wine connoisseur in the process, though he freely admits he’s no expert on where or when to plant the vines. He just learned to trust what he likes. About eight years ago, Mick decided to start bottling his own, with some help from the experts.

As for the dinner: Except for a few media folks and friends of Mick, (some of whom are members of a terrific Stevie Nicks tribute band—wonder if that gets awkward?) the event was open to the public and Mick was a gracious and endearing host, stopping at every table to chat. A yummy menu—chosen by Mick himself—of lamb chops, shrimp and crab cocktail, and filet mignon was paired with three of his terrific wines: a Reisling, a Chardonnay, and a Cabernet. Mick told us all before we started to eat that if we didn’t like anything we had, we could chase him down the road. As you can guess, that didn’t happen.

Default Mick does a dance for you

June 23, 2009
Laserium goes back to the future

Accordiny to the DailyNews, Mick Fleetwood remembers wandering up to Griffith Park Observatory for the mind-altering experience of Laserium.

In its nearly 30-year run there, members of the audience sat in dentist-like chairs so they could watch whirling laser beams dance on the domed ceiling to the classic rock tunes of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon," Led Zeppelin and the Beatles. But that was back when Laserium called the planetarium home.

"What we're about to do now is represent Laserium on steroids," he says.

Fleetwood is one in a handful of celebrities heralding the return of the iconic laser show, which was left homeless after the observatory shuttered for renovation and expansion in 2002. On Thursday, the all-new Laserium CyberTheater opens in a refurbished movie house at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine promising bigger, better, splashier offerings without the stiff neck.

Fans can still see the classic Laserium rock show - only it's new and improved. The attraction also will include live concerts, theme nights and an interactive sound-and-visual instrument that the veteran rocker, bluesman and vintner is especially thrilled about.

"When I found out that some technology I had invested in many years ago was part of the LightDancer part of the Laserium show, it totally intrigued," he says, referring to Hotz computer technology. The new feature to the Laserium attraction puts participants in a clublike atmosphere and allows them, even those with no musical training or sense of rhythm, to influence the instrumentation of the music by simply breaking light beams with body movements.

In a video presentation at Laserium's new Web site, Fleetwood demonstrates LightDancer by literally dancing in the beams.

"It's pretty magical," he says from New York at the end of the North American leg of Fleetwood Mac's greatest-hits tour. "Certainly for me, knowing the roots of where the Hotz technology came from, it is a total joy to see it used to such great effect in conjunction with the laser show."

More than simply a showcase for new technology, Laserium plans on becoming a vehicle for charitable giving.

"Now that we're in a huge theater ... and we're looking at literally tens of thousands of people a week, we feel a social consciousness that is a necessity there," says Jonathan Todd, vice president of marketing and sales for Laserium. "And so we've designed a program that Marla (Maples) is heading up."

The program is called Giving in the Light.

It allows any federally recognized charity to receive 25 percent of each ticket purchased using a special promotional code.

To launch a fundraiser, charities are encouraged to send a note to [email protected]

It is so generous that it really blows me away," says Maples, the former Mrs. Donald Trump, who is connected with a number of charities, including Spirituality for Kids Foundation and the Amazon Conservation Team. "In this world we are more conscious about community, and about outreach ... so I think the hearts of people are more open to sharing."

At the very least, they'll enjoy a good show.

"It's a hell of a lot of fun, it's mind-blowing and you really give yourself over to being immersed in another world, which is why people enjoy these types of things so much," he says.
