Default White Winged Dove tour

I have just dug out my very very very very old WWD vcr and copied it onto my hdd recorder. It's great to watch this again - this was the first Stevie video I got back in 1984! One thing that I noticed when I used to watch it all the time on VCR (everyday!), was on the last chorus of Gold & Braid - Stevie looks over to her right, looks away and then quickly looks back again - like she's taking a second glance at someting. Just wondered if anybody had watched this recently and noticed it?

I absolutely love this recording - always have. I just wish it would be re-released on DVD but in full. They cut out half the songs when they put it onto VCR which is a real shame. My picture quality on mine is now awful due to being overplayed - remember how video tapes used to get worn?

Here's wishing for some re-releases.............

Do you have the standard VHS or the Hi-Fi version?

Standard I think. All I kno is that I got it in Woolworths in the UK back in 1983 and it's only one hour long. Didn't know there were 2 versions.

I bought mine as an RCA videodisc . Lawd, how I miss those- skips, scratches and all. I wish I still had my videodisc player and discs- alas, they went in the trash when I moved out of the 'rents house. Such a shame- I would love to have it, if for no other reason than the fact that the format was such an oddity and such a horrific failure commercially.

It was a fantastic show though and dear Stevie was in great form. Shame they didn't produce the whole show - be great on DVD with those missing songs!

If you had it you could watch her during the last chorus of Gold & Braid - I'd love to know what makes her do a quick double-take.

Think I'll lobby Chris to get it re-released on DVD.

I have the Pioneer laserdisc version, also the vhs hifi tape version, one of them they cut out the back stage video before Rhiannon when the guy cursed at Stevie.which that was aired on HBO witch I got on reel to reel video tape from the original
HBO broadcast. .I downloaded both versions from ThrownDown.net a month ago.
Yes I agree that show should be put on DVD,,

I used to rent this from the local video store like every other week or so. That and the "Mirage" video. Years later the store was getting rid of it's VHS inventory and the Stevie video was for sale for like $10 So even though I had already gotten the video I had to have to have the video store copy since I had rented it so much. So I bought it. What's interesting is the video store is, I believe, the original VHS release of it. It comes in a larger "drawer" type box. Back in the early 80's all of CBS Videos came out in the this black and grey drawer like box. For those that don't know, the drawer type box opened on the side and the video sat inside this drawer that slid out of the box. Follow the link below to see a photo of it, scrawl down to the third photo. These are shots from my "Stevie Room" at the Nicks Fix. Not really a room, but random shots of a small portion of my Stevie stuff around the house.

The show was filmed late 1981 but the actual VHS wasn’t released officially until 1983. Maybe they should consider a re-release of it on DVD in 2013, as a 30th anniversary special version and include the full show (missing songs: Leather and Lace, Angel, Bella Donna and, was there one more?)

^ That version of "Angel" is the best I've heard. She was on fire!

I believe she sang After the Glitter Fades on that tour. I had a boot of it. Ditto for Think About It.

Her set list for that tour was more or less as follows:

Gold Dust Woman
Think About It
Outside The Rain
Dreams
Angel
After The Glitter Fades
Golden Braid
I Need To Know
Sara
Bella Donna
Blue Lamp
Leather & Lace
How Still My Love
Stop Draggin’
Edge Of Seventeen
Rhiannon

As you can see a LOT was cut from the HBO show.

The songs are also out of order on the VHS, which I HATE. I know it's for "flow" purposes, but I'd rather have them in order, like they were on the actual tour.

I agree - they should release the whole show in the right order. So back to my original question - has anybody noticed the double-take she takes during last chorus of Gold & Braid.
Anyone know why she never did this live again - such a great rock 'n' roll song.
Also Highwayman - how cool would it be to hear stevie do that acoustic???!

sigh

You missed the Enchanted tour. She yanked it back out of her Big Mama knapsack for that one.
