Default Hollywood pimps out even more re-makes; Hilary Duff in Bonnie & Clyde?

The last time I posted a list of upcoming film remakes, the conversation was interesting. Here's a short update.

Rob Zombie is about to start shooting Halloween 2, a sequel to his awful remake of the first one.

Slaughterhouse-Five
Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde
The Island of Lost Souls
Rock 'n' Roll High School
Poltergeist
Robocop (with Darron Aronofsky directing...sorry..re-imagining)
Karate Kid (starring Will Smith's kid & Jackie Chan)
Red Dawn
Valley Girl
10
Monster Squad
Bad Lieutenant
Let the Right One In
The Fury
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Footloose (with Zak Efron)
Hellraiser
Scanners
Escape from New York
Red Sonja
Bonnie & Clyde (Hilary Duff is cast as Bonnie. Horrible)

Films with release dates:

Taking of Pelham 123 (June 2009)
Last House on the Left (March 2009)
Race to Witch Mountain (March 2009)
Land of the Lost (June 2009)
Halloween 2 (Aug. 2009)

Well, if it means we get to see Hillary Duff riddled with bullets...why not?

From the Wikipedia article:

Quote:
Hamer obtained a quantity of civilian Browning Automatic Rifles (manufactured by Colt as the "Monitor") and 20 round magazines with armor piercing rounds.
Quote:
the lawmen opened fire, killing Bonnie and Clyde while shooting a combined total of approximately 130 rounds.
Quote:
Parker did not die as easily. The posse reported her uttering a long, horrified scream as the bullets tore into the car.
Quote:
other sources claim a total closer to 25 bullet wounds per corpse
Hells yeah.

You, me and Faye Dunaway think alike.

Faye recently went on the record in regard to the casting: "Couldn't they at least cast a real actress?"

Hilary responded: "I think that my fans that are going to see the movie don't even know who Dunaway is. I think it was a little unnecessary, but I might be mad if I looked like that now, too."

Hilary Duff thinks she has fans. That's funny.

I actually think Hillary Duff is a very good actress. She was so touching in War, Inc. -- an astounding feat given how ludicrous (in a good way) her character was. I got no probs with her as Bonnie Parker. And is Bonnie & Clyde a remake? I mean, there've been numerous tellings of that story (bio and fictionalized). Hopefully this one will bring back the hot gay character that Clyde Barrow has an affair with. I hope Steven Strait plays Clyde.

ETA: omg, Kevin Zegers is playing Clyde. PERFECT. he's so hot. and a damn good actor.

In the original script for Bonnie & Clyde, there was a scene where Clyde invites C.W. Moss (Michael J. Pollard) to have a threesome with Bonnie, but Beatty demanded it be cut as well as a few other moments that implied Clyde was gay. Instead, they made Clyde impotent.

In the original script CW was a hunk. lol

More on Hil Duff, here was my review of The Lizzie Maguire Movie when it came out back in 2003:

Oh lord, child, don't get me started on Rob flippin' Zombie.

But you forgot the planned remake of the absolutely stunningly brilliant Oldboy, directed by Park Chan-wook...which is apparently going to now be directed by Spielberg...and star...WILL SMITH. *head explodey*

I really can't wrap my head around all this remake nonsense. Horror, cult & sci fi films especially are my thang, and I really, really wish people would come up with some new ideas already. Remakes are pointless (regardless of genre). If the movie was good to begin with, then we do not need to do it over again. If the movie was bad to begin with, then we also do not need to do it over again. It's simple.

Rob Zombie's *ahem* reimagining of my beloved Halloween is an example of the former, and the recent remake of Prom Night is an example of the latter.

We need another Escape from New York like I need a 6 inch hole in the back of my head. Leave my Carpenter classics alone already, people! Russell is too old to play Snake again, and Snake IS Escape. Same goes for Hellraiser - who the hell (har) do they think they are going to cast as Lead Cenobite/Pinhead? Doug Bradley IS Pinhead.

The saddest thing is that most people will never realize that the stupid movies Hollywood keeps pushing out are often actually just bad remakes of what were once good films. Case in point: the recent film called The Uninvited? Bland remake of a really rather good Korean horror flick, Janghwa, Hongryeon (American release title was "A Tale of Two Sisters")

Argh.

This is not as much of a remake of the Keitel original as taking the character and putting him in a different, yet equally morally daunting, environment.

If your screaming will make him stop, yes.
But in this case, I think SHRIEKING is called for.

This opens March 13...
(I'm not a fan of the original, so I don't really care about this remake.)

If I thought all my freakouts about what a monstrously bad thing it is to let Rob Zombie fiddle around with Halloween might actually get him to stop...

Couldn't he have just started with Season of the Witch and gone from there?

Remaking Last House is utterly useless, but I suppose that goes without saying.

Whatever it is...IT'S ALIVE!

Is that the poster for the remake with Bijou Phillips as Lenore? I see the date on the poster says 2007, but I don't remember them actually releasing it yet.

Which isn't a bad thing, of course, because...mutant killer babies? Well, it's just been done, darling. After all, who could forget the sequels, It Lives Again and It's Alive III: Island of the Alive?

Har.

It's the remake with Bijou. The poster was a AFM pre-production poster, but the film was for a 2008 release, which never happened.
I have the DVD of It's Alive 2 & Island of the Alive.

Here's the trailer for the It's Alive remake.

and this trailer makes me happy....
