Default Lindsey and Mick on 1996 Johnny Cash album

Maybe most of you know this already, but I searched and didn't find a thread about it.

Bought Johnny Cash's 1996 'Unchained' album after learning that TP & Heartbreakers were his backing band on it. Just noticed that Lindsey (his name is misspelled in the booklet...) plays acoustic guitar and Mick plays percussion on the track 'Sea of Heartbreak'.

Just a heads up for the completists out there.

All of the Johnny Cash American Recording CD's (produced by Rick Rubin) are worth having. The music rivals Cash's early classics. It's a rare thing for someone who had as long of a career as Cash had to end with some of the best music he'd ever made. A true legend.

Completely agree. Unfortunately, it also contributed to Rubin's stratospherically overrated reputation as a producer, but...

He maybe over-rated, but I'm still looking forward to the upcoming Rick Rubin produced ZZ Top album.

Outstanding album by Cash. Too bad it was toward the end of his legendary career.

The fact that Lindsey and Mick were involved just made it an added bonus for me as I grew up listening to Johnny Cash.

Four legends (Cash, Petty, Fleetwood, Buckingham) all working with Rubin. What it must have been like to be a fly on the wall during those sessions.

You can say whatever you want about Rubin, but he does it each time. The man has produced like 100 classic albums.

From a Sylvia Massy article about the Unchained album in Mix Nashville

http://mixonline.com/recording/gear_...cash_stalevel/

We tracked the Unchained album over a span of six months, and every session included visits from huge stars, including Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, “Blue Suede Shoes” legend Carl Perkins, country great Marty Stuart, Flea and Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mick Fleetwood and Lindsay Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac, and, of course, June Carter Cash
