A Stevie fan rant of sorts...

[Dark Angel]

I was browsing MySpace the other day and found 15 of the desktop wallpapers I made for people to use freely as wallpapers, being used as backgrounds for MySpace layouts. I messaged the guy who used them and asked if he could at least provide a link back to my site for the use of them. Not surprisingly, I haven't heard a word, but did notice that he's put his name on all of them.

I guess my question is, if these people are such fans and proclaim themselves to be "web designers" or "artists", why the f**k can't they create something original from scratch, instead of taking a piece of work someone actually put time and effort into and altering it? I've seen so many gorgeous pieces taken from deviantart.com where people do nothing but copy and paste Stevie's face into it, and it makes me sick! I've seen wallpapers from other Stevie sites (Claudia's for one), being used to make layouts without even bothering to credit the artist. It's pathetic! A lot of the images from deviantart.com *are* copyrighted, but apparently some Stevie fans who claim to be artists just don't give a s**t, and they never will.

Sorry for the rant, I just really needed to get this off my chest.

On one hand Lisa I sympathise but on the other hand do you credit the photographers whose work you use? I realise you've manipulated the photo and put your artistic stamp on it but at the end of the day it's still a photo that someone else has taken.
