Default What Songs I Think Stevie Should Cover

The Rose-Bette Midler
We've Got Tonight-Bob Seger
The Waiting-Tom Petty
Holding on For a Hero-Bonnie Tyler
Bette Davis Eyes-Kim Carnes
Tangled Up In Blue-Bob Dylan

I think these songs would be great for Stevie to cover. What do you think?

I don't wish to be contrary, but Stevie should stop covering other people's work at her shows and bring out a few of her own. Stevie has made it clear her set list is: Dreams, Rhiannon, Landslide, Gold Dust Woman, Edge Of Seventeen, and Standback. I accept that. We will hear five of those songs whenever Stevie sings solo or with Fleetwood Mac. Those are the songs that made me a Stevie fan.

I hope Stevie will RE- cover:

Kind Of Woman
Nightbird
Blue Denim
Destiny
Paperdoll
Crystal
Angel
Fireflies
Sister Of The Moon
That's Alright
Illume
Thrown Down
Love Changes
I Miss You

I've always thought Stevie would do an EXCELLENT
cover cversion of an old Patsy Cline tune

"Walking after Midnight"If you know the song- then you know, I am right

You're right. Love this song and she would do a great cover. Ever heard the Bodeans version? So good.
I do not mind covers at a live show, many artists throw 1 or 2 in.

If I had to pick a few other covers that Stevie should sing, they would be:

Black Velvet
These Dreams
Bittersweet Symphony
Gimme Some Lovin'
Magic Carpet Ride

You are right. You are right. I would love to hear Stevie sing a lot of her great songs on stage that are her own. I would've loved to hear her sing some stuff from BuckinghamNicks. Wait a minute....she did! "Sorcerer"! Duh! I meant stuff from the BuckinghamNicks album. Yes, Stevie could sing a wonderful Patsy Cline, that would be lovely. I just wanted to post something up for fun about her singing cover songs. There are many others, but I can't think of them.

I just read an old review of Bekka Bramlett singing this song. The writer talked about the stand out performances in a broadway musical revue, It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues:

The Tennessean, September 30, 2003

The most scalp-prickling passages, in order of appearance:

1. I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man - Kingsley Leggs' rump-shaking version of that juicy old bit of sexual bragging.

I thought Ken Page did the ultimate bump-and-grind with this number in last year's production at the Ryman Auditorium, but Leggs, a younger, slimmer and what you might call more athletic man, was downright nasty.

Anything more suggestive would have been illegal.

2. Crawlin' King Snake - more sly boasting, this time from Gregory Porter, who slithered his way across the stage seducing women with the skill of a South Side Casanova.

3. Walking After Midnight - a shocking soul version of the Patsy Cline classic by Nashville's Bekka Bramlett, whose voice suggests a collision of Billie Holiday and Janis Joplin.

I realize this thread is old, but I'd like to write a few covers of my own that I think Stevie would do justice.

Sara by Bob Dylan

Sad Eyed Lady From The Lowlands by Bob Dylan

Kozmic Blues by Janis Joplin

Little Wing by Jimmy Hendrix

Junk by Paul McCartney

Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles (done acoustically)

Real Love by John Lennon

Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin (done acoustically)

When Doves Cry by Prince (a Patti Smith styled acoustic cover)

April Come She Will by Simon and Garfunkel

and that is my dream list of top ten covers that I think would be amazing if Stevie performed

Two songs that are not very well known probably, but if you want to listen...

Counting Crows, "Le Ballet D'Or"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJw4p...=RDHJw4pSaROZU

The Waifs, "Goodbye
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwDM9LehUwc

The first time I head both these songs, I immediately thought of Stevie. Le Ballet d'Or" goes into a minor chord and it just sounds like Stevie to me. The lyrics of Goodbye sound like something Stevie might have written.

My favorite singer/songwriter is Patty Griffin. I'd like to hear her do "Mary", one of Patty's best known songs.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0a4dRI1JMM
(sorry for the religious images in the youtube video. This song is actually not about either of the biblical Marys. Instead, it's about one of Patty's grandmothers."

OK, that's my 2 cents

Kevin

I would love a Destiny like the Wild Heart outtake! The piano is killer in that

I love to hear her on classic country tunes like Patsy Cline and other artists from that era up to the 1980's.

Also I love to hear her sing "Sweet Dream" another Patsy song and Emmylou Harris covered it in 1977.

I would rather hear her cover LED Zeps Stairway to Heaven then "Rock and Roll".

The Rose was my moms favorite tune from Bette.I would love to hear her sing that then the other Bette tune she did live.

I can add some of the Beatles ,Elvis,CCR, in too.
