Default A song Stevie should sing

Caught out running with just a little too much to hide
Maybe baby everything's going to turn out fine
Please read the letter I nailed it to your door
It's crazy how it all turned out we needed so much more.

Too late too late a fool could read the signs
Maybe baby you better check between the lines
Please read the letter I wrote it in my sleep
With help and consultation from the angels of the deep

Please read the letter that I wrote
Please read the letter that I wrote

Once I stood beside a well of many words
My house is full of rings and charms and pretty birds
Please understand me my walls came falling down
There's nothing here that's left for you
But check with lost and found

Please read the letter that I wrote
Please read the letter that I wrote

One more song just before we go
Remember baby you gotta reap just what you sow
Please read my letter and promise me you'll keep
The secrets and the memories that we cherish in the deep

Please read the letter I nailed it to your door
It's crazy how it all turned out we needed so much more

Please read the letter that I wrote
Please read the letter that I wrote.

This song was written by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page and was performed by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss on their "Raising Sand" CD. As soon as I heard "Please Read The Letter That I Wrote" I thought of Stevie, and what a great song it would be for her to record.

What do you guys think?
Listen the the Plant/Krauss version if you get the chance.

Well . . . you said Plant and Page wrote it. It could just as easily been written by Ethan.

I'm glad Ethan. The part about the dream thing in the song even matched your post about "the letter in my sleep."

I haven't been a member long enough to know Ethan, or his post. I assume my post related somehow to a previous post Ethan made?

Could somebody post the Plant/Krauss "Please Read The Letter" music file so everyone could hear for themselves? Thanks.

Yeah, if you look at the Atlanta concert thread, I talk about how I wrote a letter and gave it to someone at the show to give to her.

Man I was going on about that letter for days.

Sorry, but I won't post ANY artist's commerically available music on The Ledge. If they want to hear it, they can get a listen on iTunes or buy it for 99 cents.

Musicman, I should have realized that was you. I'm the one who suggested that you should write two letters.

Tango, I should have been more specific about posting a music file. I should have asked for someone to post a sample, not the whole song. BTW, I "PURCHASED" my "Raising Sand" CD.

Were you at the show and saw me dancing on my chair????

I was so excitied that I got one through that I completely forgot to ask someone different after the show, but I think I may just mail it~

Musicman, No I wasn't at the show but I'm glad you got your letter through.
Sounds like you enjoyed the show.

Richard B., I just got an email today confirming that Robert & Alison are going to record one of their upcoming shows for DVD release. Can't wait for this!
Rasing Sand in my opinion is one of the years best CD's.

Thumbs down

I have not bought this cd yet but have heard a lot of the songs on our local alternative radio station. I like what I've heard, and I will have to hear that song you think Stevie should singand/or buy the cd, thanks for the post!

If you like the few songs you've heard already, you will totally enjoy the rest of the cd. I never thought I'd get to hear Alison Kraus and Robert Plant sing together, or for that matter, expect it to work. But it does. It's one of my favorite recordings of late. I highly recommend it.

Stevie should try something like this. She needs to find herself some new singing partners and wrap her vocals around a country themed album.

galestreet, yes check out the CD and let me know what you think about that particular song.

jwd, I agree with you Stevie should try something like this. I think it would suit her fine. She's always talked about doing a Country album (not that the Plant/Krauss CD is Country). Now to just find her the right partner to sing with...
