Default CD/DVD giveaways for Boston-area Ledgies

To all Nicks-o-tine addicted Stevie fans,

I wasn't sure where to post this, but this seems about right.

I promote a very popular Friday night at a video/bar/lounge/restaurant named Club Cafe, Boston's most prominent GLBT establishment. Except for the summer months when I am in Provincetown, I am always on site from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., even though the venue stays open until 2 a.m. The restaurant and lounge open late afternoon, but the two video lounges do not open until 9 p.m. Crowd: Age range of 25 - 45; 70 percent men; 30 percent women.

Here's the deal: Every week, I hand out tons of CDs, DVDs, passes to several advance movie screenings (which my company also sponsors), and all sorts of swag. It all goes into the hands of the patrons at my discretion. The club is always packed by 11 p.m., and often times at capacity by 11:30, but there's no cover and the wait is never more than a few minutes. From 9 - 10:30, I am usually up to no good, making the VJ play Stevie & FM videos before I'm forced to hear Rihanna and Britney all night. The VJ is a Stevie/rock diva fan and he even re-edited videos for Big Love, Stand Back (Scarlett version) to the dance remixes. Every week I am stunned that people don't want alot of the giveaways. (I couldn't force people to take copies of Amy Winehouse's CD when it came out; last week, I ended up with 10 copies of Goldfrapp's CD left over, tons of remix singles, Warner Music spring sampler CDs, shorts from the movie Run Fatboy, movie passes, tshirts, hats, full-size movie posters..you get the idea. Years ago, at another place, no one was interested in the one-disc promo CDs for Stevie's Enchanted. The discs had 10 or 12 tracks.I still have three or four in a box somewhere. But, several people came in wanting the giant vinyl Crystal Visions poster, which obviously left with me. They had to settle for copies of the disc and mini-posters.

So, if you are in the neighborhood - Boston's South End - stop by Club Cafe, particularly between 9 - 10:30 and go to the back video lounges. My name is Rick. Ask any of the bartenders or security for me and just introduce yourself. I'll load you up with what we're serving.

(The Church of Scientology is moving into the South End, so I have strengthen our Stevie numbers with payola so you'll all stand with me during the eventual turf war between the South End gays and Xenu.)

Friday, March 28 giveaways
CD: The B-52's - Funplex (as well as assorted B-52 promo items, posters)
EDGE ADVANCE SCREENING PASSES: "Under The Same Moon" and one or two more films.
DVD:"Socket," a sci-fi fantasy about "a pair of gay lovers."

Friday, April 4
CD: Shirley Bassey - Get This Party Started (It's all new recordings and very dance-ish, like her song History Repeating. She covers Pink's Get This Party Started as though it were a classic James Bond theme. HILARIOUS.
DVD: Sweeney Todd
EDGE ADVANCE SCREENING PASSES: Prom Night, Ruins, 88 Minutes
(I always have full size movie posters. A few on the walls and about 80 in the trash.)

Coming up: CDs from Leona Lewis, Kylie, Moby. DVDs of Juno, Bionic Woman, There Will Be Blood, Battlestar Galactica 3, I Am Legend, August Rush, ...
(It's all on my website - www.edgeboston.com under EDGEfridays or giveaway center.)

Way cool ~ GDO! Where in the South End (near any particular landmarks?). I don't often get into Boston (I'm closer to the Cape) but sometimes we like to do something different. What's the parking situation? I'd def. make a trek in there.
