Default Am lookin for remix-able vocals plz

yeah! been waiting to post...

hi. new to ledge. if i tell you im learning to remix, well, there really are some less than great ones out there by ppl that are supposed to know how...

i really like Seven Wonders and Rooms on Fire, was going to do SW til a girl on utube offered to do vocals of Edge of Seventeen. She didnt contact or login since she was gonna send them 2 days ago.

But EoS should be an easy remix, well, in some ways...it isn't too busy with the instruments, but the story is less than linear and consistant. (Can use help with that besides inherownwords (no more than a baby? seemed brokenhearted?) what u think was species of nightbird? etc. plz comment on whatever.

ANYWAYS, WHAT I REALLY WANT TO GET TO

I sure could get more creative with clean vocals (no/few instruments)
Straight acapellas, maybe just a little something in background, or an instrumental version that is the exact same (i say this mostly for Seven Wonders, since i know there is one, and maybe only parts of the instrumental are exact, but i can use it to get clean vocals for those parts)

there was/is a version of sisters of the moon on Utube with just a piano. My software didnt edit out any of the piano, so even that would require incorporating that into the song.

i would like to start with something a bit harder/dancier/rockier than like a SofM. like i got a Leath. & Lace link from here this weekend that was nice, but, well, not all her, orig. was more mellow.

which brings me to what i can sample from her other songs that would just sooo work. if some ppl post that they have these good/clean vocals of such and such song that sounds like what im looking for, what other songs/phrases just would work for helping the story or adding "something pretty"

i was thinking maybe a future/near-future group project could be to create a new Stevie Nicks song with all the material you all have. You all should know enuf about her, and have enuf phrases suitable for a remix, to make a excellent Stevie Nicks song.

i can do a few hours a day, a couple days a week. just to do a really simple one wont take anywhere near that amount of time tho. I have learned all of my programs, and have several thousands of Loops/samples i can use or cut up, and i have a program that loads hundreds of instruments & effects (tho i'd like to do 1 remix before i start searching "that one sound", ha)

oh, and im in mid 30's, listened to various genres growing up

so how bout it? so far, seen lotsa luv around here. just a lil bit more plz.

grrr, forgot this..

my guitar samples/loops is almost non-existant/sucky. anything would be nice, but how about some AC/DC? Anyone have some solos, or know who does / can lay some down?

I will upload a bunch of acapellas later tonight, including some from Master and Slave reels. The vocals are incredibly crisp. I have a few DIY acapellas that were extracted properly. I scan my files from any DJ tools that might help you out (instrumentals, throwaway vocals, etc.)

Check out my Stevie Nicks Remix Project thread. I have posted just about 100 SN & FM remixes.

Commercial remixes of Edge of Seventeen are scheduled for release in April, including remixes from Tracy Young - which she is currently playing in her sets - as well as Ranny, Austin Leeds, and Dave Aude. Tracy, Austin and Dave remixed Stand Back; Tracy also mixed Planets; Dave remixed Go Your Own Way. All of those mixes are posted in the Remix thread.

sounds great GDO. much more exciting with that much creative freedom!

i have all these samples to sift through alot more, and dont really know how much i like them, but i found all i could easily find in a couple days.

cant promise anything, but since you suppling, what are you interested in? song(s) and genre/sub-type/sub-type. some examples of (non-SN) remix artists or contemporary bands.

first guess is maybe have something ready in 2 weekends

thx again.

(nobody else gonna reply to that other stuff i brought up?)

Here a few acapellas to start with. If You Were My Love is so crisp, you'll think she's in the room with you. The hint of ambient music is actually coming from her headphones.

I think there are vocal stretches and other bits that could be edited into something all together new, rather than a more traditional remix. That's what I'd be thrilled to hear. The coda on Blue Denim has some great stuff.

This is just the beginning. I'm looking forward to hearing what you create.

y everyone creepin around this thread like they are?

Don't try to figure out the Peeping Toms. Most people are passive by nature and the internet still doesn't register as social interaction to most, so they forget to acknowledge the person (or persons) whose message they are reading, or the bounty they are partaking in.

Just a hair over a month ago I began the Remix thread and have posted just over 100 tracks, many incredibly hard to find, rare, etc. There has been just over 4,500 downloads from that folder in 30+ days from Ledgies, but only about 25 people have participated in the thread and there's been very little actual feedback, discussion and maybe only four tracks posted by others. I made the same initial plea for acapellas, but no one has posted any. But, that's okay, I'm doing this for me and the few people that are really into the Stevie remix moment. And it only takes a couple. I believe in sharing every last Stevie/FM track, etc. that I have; and I love designing off-the-cuff, comedic Stevie signatures because they make me - and a few others - laugh. And there are a few people on here who are really responsible for invigorating my Stevie mania to fever levels when I first found this board and downloaded about 100 tracks in two days.

I think what you are doing is great and I will continue to see what I have that can help you.

hi GDO.

i've been a little flustered that you were the only one participating in this. i dont think you actually said you had any of EofS, 7w, RoomsFire; which im most interested in working with. (i would like to see if a EofS would be good enuf to raise a few eyebrows with her camp)

and then you go and post all these remixes, with a few ppl posting a few.
you said when you first got here you asked for acapella's & stuff with no response.
& the only experience ive had b4 this was seeing an acapella RoomsF at a trader site, sent several emails to different traders, with one reply that i should check torrents. (ha)

and ur the only one who even acknowledges im here! period.
its not like this message actually applies to anybody else in a way

im thinking ill do a industrial-goth type of mix for blue denim. thats really the only way i can see that song going (well, any style of gothic implication). Except for the title's words in the song, there isn't anything that isn't gothic within those lyrics (ok, fine, denim overalls & a pitchfork were around 100 years ago, and black latex with tongue piercing wasn't)
could just get burnt out

actually it should be more surprising that one of the posted remixes were tribal based vs any sort of indust. or goth.
how sad
not like i cant do or enjoy a good hip-hop
(maybe its cuz ppl horde acapellas from real fans vs 2bit'ing techies)

i really dont know why ppl arn't interested in sharing. i can promise not to "trade" them if thats part of the issue (more common dilutes value as bargaining chip for less common i suppose, but since so many ppl posting so much other stuff....)
perhaps you can fill me in on the politics of memorabilia, if thats the issue, which is my best/only guess
although you have been pretty free with ur stuff since you got here, perhaps holding out my remix is how to play?? does that sound bitter? i just dont want to post something i worked at making as good as possible with materials i have, to have to, like, remix madonna when someone is holding my SN RMX and also an acapella i want. (perhaps a very low quality and/or just short clip)
ha, the only thing i would want to trade for at this point are acapellas (since im pretty sure im good enuf to get facetime & J with stevie :P)

so for what its worth, if someone has acapellas of those 3 songs (EofS,7w,RF), and dont want to post here, they can send me an email addy via Utube message to dailyentertain, and ill send them my email (or just make a blank video i can d/l, if sound dont suffer). any conditions you set/prefer can be discussed

Here is Rooms on Fire

Sorry I don't have an acapella Edge or Seven Wonders, but here is an uptempo one that has been remixed before and you could probably do something fun with
