Hey, I just wanted to ask if anyone has any demo versions or really good live versions of Angel that they'd be willing to share? I've become somewhat obsessed with this song lately, and I'd love some different versions to listen to. If anyone can help with this, I would really appreciate it! Thanks.

The old ABC news magazine show '20/20' did a piece on FM back in the late 70's, about how Warner was banking on 'Tusk' to stimulate record-buying business. They included just a teeny snip of a live 'Angel', and it is definately not the 'Angel' that was included in the 'Tusk' tour doc. It's confusing, because the '20/20' piece seems to be focused on the record biz and Warner Brothers and in general the dynamic of the band and their thoughts on the new material, but the 'Angel' clip seems to be from a show late in the tour. Why do I think this? Because Stevie isn't wearing the off-white dress, orange shawl, scarf, or hair-bun that we typically associate with that tour. Instead, she's wearing a black short-sleaved lace top, very similar (or the same) that she wore on the 'Mirage' cover.
Or am I imagining this? Anyway, the 'Angel' clip features just the "whoah to track a ghost through the fog, whoah you try hard but you'll never catch me..." segment of the song but Stevie looks unbelievably sexy because she has all that glorious moussey, bushy 'Tusk' hair all mushed up in her hands above her head. Like as if her neck was getting hot or something. I'd never seen her do that before, or since! And LB was playing some smoking guitar too. I'd LOVE to see or hear the whole performance, or even see that '20/20' clip again. On 'Youtube' there are some portions on the segment, but unfortunately last time I checked, the Stevie/'Angel' snippet was not among them. Last edited by petep9000; 02-02-2008 at 06:17 PM.. Livvy, I'm sure you have probably already devoured this clip on Youtube, but just in case you didn't...
Stevie solo from the 'US Festival' in '83, doing a rocking 'Angel' with Waddy just tearing up the into. Now THAT's rock and roll!! (p.s- not the best 'Angel' vocal we've heard, but it looks like Stevie's enjoying herself and man, that first touring band of hers was tight. |
