The whole night was buoyed along by a feel-good, house party atmosphere, and the love was strong when Collett and his band took the stage at midnight for a 45-minute set which mixed older material and covers (including the stunning Stevie Nicks’ “Storms” off Fleetwood Mac's Tusk and a Robbie Robertson–penned Christmas carol) with songs from his upcoming album, Here's to Being Here, due out in February 2008. At one point, Canning called out and asked, “Who’s going to buy Jason Collett’s record when it comes out in the spring?” The crowd cheered. “I said, who’s going to buy Jason Collett’s new record when it’s out in the spring?” Canning repeated playfully. The obedient crowd roared back.
