Default Faggoty Attention

has Adam Joseph ruined his career and abandoned his fanbase with his latest song "Faggoty Attention"?

he came on the scene with "Flow with My Soul" (which I absolutely love) and "You're Mine" - I bought his album and loved it and while I actually like "Faggoty Attention" it makes me wonder exactly where his music comes from and/or is going. I think it's a fun song and actually like the lyrics. isn't he allowed to change up his music?

a lot of people say he's sold out/turned skank/given "a select portion of the population" a bad name, etc. what say you? downgrade, upgrade or n/a?

for comparison:

Flow with My Soul

You're Mine

Faggoty Attention

Wow. I'd never actually heard of this guy - so I watched the first video - I liked it though generally this music isn't my cup of tea. Faggoty attention?

I don't really know what to think. It's catchy, I'll give it that

It looks like he realized trying to fit in that particular R&B/Jazz niche wasn't going to work. The first song I liked, but it was about 5 years too late if it was really released in 2006. Jason Mraz came to mind listening to it, and his big hit started blowing up in late 2001 - not that he's the only one recording in that style.

As for Faggoty Attention, it's cheesy but I still had it stuck in my head all summer after seeing the video late one night on LOGO. Especially the "back to Brooklyn, get it cookin' " part. I like that he went for the in-your-face lyrics.

Does music really go out of style that fast? I have no idea what's popular now or what was popular in 2001. I haven't paid attention to what was on the radio or MTV since the mid-90s. At any rate, I've never heard of this guy (or Jason Mraz), but I sorta liked the first song. 'Faggoty Attention' didn't seem like a song, in my mind - it was funny, but you can't really separate it from the video. I can't imagine buying a CD of this, IOW.

I was speaking about "out of the style" on the pop charts, of course. There are plenty of people still performing in that general mold - they just don't play them on Clear-Channel monopolized radio. For instance, Jason had a huge hit with The Remedy, and was deemed out of style by his third single which was released about a year later.

And I'll bet you've heard it - you just didn't have a name to put with it:

Never heard it. When I say I never listen to the radio, I'm really not kidding.

I like it, though.
