Question Reunion tours.. new albums.. Soda Stereo

Soda Stereo is an argentine rock group that was huge successful in the 80s and 90s. In my opinion, it’s the best rock band in Spanish language. They broke up in 1997, giving a last amazing concert. Now they have joined again for a reunion tour. Several shows are already sold out. They’ll be in Lima on dec. 8th, and already sold all tickets in just 5 days, so the band announced a 2nd show for Peruvian fans on dec 9th.

Last weekend I saw their E! True Hollywood Story (actually the show is called Historias Verdaderas) at Latin E!. And I heard a critic (argentine) guy who talked about the tour, expecting a great show, but he said.. They have lot of great songs. They just have to choose the best and the show will be wonderful. Don’t record new songs, cause it won’t be work fine.. Don’t do new material, it wouldn’t result.

So my question is.. Is that necessarily true? Reading threads about the relative weak results of Say You Will, but the success of the tour, I wonder if actually the time for old band albumss is gone and they can only sing old classic material. I don’t think so. I remember a ledgie didn’t like The Dance exactly because it was just old material with some new songs, not a complete new work. Well.. if they do a tour with new songs, I don’t think they will fill stadiums. And let’s face it, a new mac album won’t be as successful as Tango in the Night, not to mention Rumours. But that’s a reason to not make new material?

I’m not sure about Soda Stereo, maybe they would have a successful new album if they record it. But the tour is going great anyway. What about Police? A Police new album would be in the top ten?? Is it a matter of the sound, the style, or being commercial to be succesfull in stores? I mean, maybe Rolling Stones or Cher can put a new album in top ten list again, but not ABBA or Pink Floyd?

Villavic, I don't know who those people are. But I felt bad for you when I saw your post had no replies, so I decided to respond!

Here is an interesting picture of mammatus clouds, which indicate extreme instability in the atmosphere & generally presage thunderstorm activity.
