Default interesting...

I had a very interesting conversation with a "casual" fan just a few moments ago. she saw my CV poster in my office and said "oh, I used to love Stevie Nicks, what's she doing now?" - so, I explained what's been going on the past couple years. she said the last time she saw Stevie, she had put on weight and said in an interview that she hated being fat. my friend told me she felt bad for her, but that she always knew no one would ever compare to her on stage. anyway, I asked if she'd like to see some recent stuff. she said yes so I showed her Stand Back, Dreams, Beauty and the Beast and a couple snippets from her Caesar's Palace shows. she grabbed my shoulder during BATB and said, "oh my god, I've got chills" - we went over what songs she does in concert and she excitedly said she was going to see her the next tour.

so, my point is...well, there is no point, but it is interesting to see the reaction and her the comments of an actual casual fan. it also goes to show why Stevie's setlist still satisfies 90% of her fanbase.

ETA: I totally forgot to add (and this was the whole reason I thought about posting) - she also said "she's as good as she was in the 70's"; which immediately made me go

Yup. I'm at a point now where I need to hire a bus if or when Stevie (or The Mac) comes to the Netherlands, that's how many people I've either converted, or taken out of fandom hibernation. But when we get to talking about what they'd like to see in concert they all yell out Stand Back or Edge of Seventeen or Dreams or Landslide. It horrifies me, but that's just the way it is. I can count on one hand the number of diehards that would love to see all of those leave the set and have Stevie do songs she's never done before.

On the other hand, this is a funny story. My ex-boss' 10-year old daughter came to spend the night a few months ago. Poor girl had never in her life seen vinyls before, so she became fascinated. She played records all night long, and well, I have Stevie and Mac records in abundance. She celebrated her birthday in July and she asked me for Stevie's greatest hits cd. But then when I went over to their house for a cup of coffee the other day I walked past the garage where she was playing with a few friends and I swear, she was listening to a cd with more obscure stuff on it. I heard Crystal, I heard Love Is, If I Were You, Wild Heart... and she loved all of them.

So there's still hope for her.

Samething with my friends children. We went to see Stevie at Jones beach
last June. The freezing one of all of 44 degrees. I had purchased the
DVD for her and I, and my friends children were watching it with us.
Now her children along with their friends are Stevie fans. They have
been listening to the box set of Enchanted and they even love Lindsay
Buckinham. I have his shirt(From seeing him in concert) I wore it twice
to my friends house and her daughter(god bless children) said to me
how many times are you going to wear that shirt. They were listening to
Tango in the night and said who is that person...And there mother said
that is the guy aunt darlene wears and you tell her why is she wearing that.
They said wow we really like him were can we get a shirt of Stevie and
Lindsay...Unbelivable.
I believe Stevie forever..She will also gain new fans.
Darla

We went to the Homecoming Football game last night. (My 17 year old was a candidate for king...)

There were 6 girls and 6 boys as candidates. The senior class has 485 kids in it. One of the girl candidates was named:

RHIANNON

I wonder how many kids have been named after that welsh witch?

All of my friends know who Fleetwood Mac or Stevie Nicks are even without me pushing their music. Most of them even have the classics in their Ipod.

A girl on the school newspaper, one of the coeditors actually-her name is Rhiannon. Shes really nice.
most of the kids on there are actually really nice.

but anyways,
my idiot friend Adam gave me 3 blank CDs, and told me to give him 'every fleetwood mac song ever' and im like 'thats BS I have like 700 songs, including solos, demos, and lives, so I just gave him the basics, and the Tusk CD...cause he likes Landslide , and he told me he liked Rhiannon. But I think Ive converted him to The Mac

The only reason he asked me was cause he just got a new ipod [that he broke, and it made my day, but fixed it...which sucked ]

I sat next to a mother and daughter at a show in PA this past summer and the mother tells me she has been a life long MAC and Stevie fan but had never seen them live. The daughter was in college and loved them too. She bought these really expensive tickets so her mom could realize her dream. The daughter never counted on the fact that that show turned out to be the best concert she said she'd ever been to. It was so nice to meet younger people who love Stevie and the Mac too.

Hello, all!!! I attented the 2nd show in Atlanta during the Crystal Visions tour. I took a buddy of mine w/me. She is a casual Stevie fan, as well. She was blown away when Stevie finally got out there. She didn't know every song like we do, but she's learning now...
