Default Introducing Your Friends to Stevie's Music

Does anyone have any interesting stories about introducing your friends to Stevie's Music?

Well, since I am 17 many of my friends listen to the new music and Top 40 of today...So I really don't have anyone to share my love for Stevie's music with me. So I made my friend Victoria a compilation of Stevie's biggest hits and well known songs....She now absolutely adores Stevie and we recently sat down and watched the Red Rocks video. She loved how Stevie moved on the stage and she really got a kick out of the Edge Of 17 performance when Stevie was practically performing an Exorcism on herself. lol. But it was so much fun introducing Victoria to Stevie's music...so now everytime we ride in the car together we play "Stand Back" really loud! And she even knows most of the words...lol.

Whenever I date someone new, I wonder in the back of my mind... Will this person accept my Stevie obsession? I dated someone back in 1998, the height of my groupie phase. We went to see Stevie at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas; Boz Scaggs was the opener. This person was cool with the concert, but drew the line when I started following Sharon Celani through the casino!

Hahaha! I often wonder if my obsession with Stevie gets on my friend's nerves. And I'm sure it does. Just yesterday I was hanging out with a friend and "Edge Of 17" came on the radio and I had an "episode". I turned it up really loud and he just rolled his eyes. lol.

I TOTALLY KNOW WHAT U MEAN! episode~baha. My friends call it "the trance" that i kinda go into lala land when suddenly stevie comes on they know theyve lost me for a good coupple of minutes!

As far as introducing Stevie to friends, i also totally understand. Im 25, and like all my friends and people i know are really into the like now bands and stuff. I usually suus out the situation first, like find out what kinnda music there into first, and then, make a "specific compalation to fit their musical style" cause stevies songs run the gauntlet, its usually easy. in the past ive made compalations for my
TECHNO
COUNTRY
ROCK
CLASSIC ROCK
SLOW AND SAD
and even my Christian music type friends. With stevie, theres allways something.!
if ya need ideas, for specific playlists, let me know
(oh, and good for you buy the way, for
"bringing annother unto the fold"mu-haha"

I rambled constantly about the Mac at summer school one year ... my friend went home, found a tape of Mirage and was hooked!!

The best story I have was when we (the same friend and I) were crossing the road and the beeping thing on the traffic lights started going in the exact same time to the Edge riff ... and we both broke out into song at the same time!!

actually my hubby feeds my stevie craziness, you should see before a show he pumps me up w/ all his here she comes...here she comes drama~ he has been to all the stevie/mac shows i have except 1 & that is cuz i wasn't w/ him at the time~ my hubby is 8 yrs older than me~ he loved me from afar when i was teen, not to mention, it would have been illegal ~, but when we got together, we started living together after 2 months of dating, & when i was arranging our new digs, i was going thru his lp collection, & way in the back he had all these stevie & mac albums & i was all like what the hell is this & all he could do was sheepishly shrug, he said that he started loving her because of me, that he actually got my madness for her & what was so cute, when i put on 1 of his records, he could sing it all word for word~too ****in' cute!!!~ i do have to throw in here at one time he really like christine mcvie, because he thought that because of stevie's hotness chris wasn't getting any of the love ~

& as for my friends, they knew & still know i worship her & most of them like stevie also~ my obsession carried over to all of them & to this day i will run into someone from 20 years ago & the majority will say do you still worship stevie? & i generally always have my stevie purse w/ me ( i had to retire it for a LV ) or a stevie shirt or button or something on~ & i'm just smiling back at them~ i feel like kevin mccallister in home alone when he makes the 10 yr old t.v. is my life comment...hi, i'm jill, i'm 39 & stevie is my life!!!~

My Significant Other was a casual fan before we met (meaning, he had Rumours). I think my obsessiveness turned him off though. He doesn't listen to it anymore and rolls his eyes whenever a song comes on the radio.
On a side note, he did go with me to my first in concert experience (Enchanted Tour) and enjoyed it. However, every concert since, he has skipped.

I think it might be because he hates that I make him wear chiffon...

I actually don't care if my friends like Stevie or the music I like, or not.
I gave one friend a cd of Gino Vannelli, since he is my fav artist in the world, and I was always raving about him, and he had never heard him. He was like, (after he listened) "oh, that is not my type of music, I guess he is ok"...

LOL.."OK"????

Oh, good Lord. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so I really don't care who else likes what I like, I just know I do. I like mostly soul and R&B, and most people I know listen to stuff I think is crap, so I just go my own way
(they probably think my Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Gino, etc is "crap" too, LOL) I wouldn't want someone giving me a Country CD of some Carrie Underwood or Faith Hill stuff, and making me listen, LOL, so I don't force my music on others, either...

Hi Kathy!

99% of my music playing is always R&B.
It is my favourite. Not that I don't listen to Stevie,
but mostly R&B. Lots of Old School R&B,
Marvin Gaye, Al Green, the Whispers,
Isley Bros, etc.

Have a great day, Kathy!

My friends love the classics. Sometimes when they get in the car, they throw Rumours in. I am only 18. Its great to see my friends get into the Mac.

my friends hate my FM obsession, at the mall yesterday, we were in the apple store, and i went to the iphone and guess what i did?
I went on the ledge to check out the threads here
and in the car ride back i was singing thrown down and they were looking at me wierd.

my two best friends like new music, that i really dont like any of [the stuff they like].
my friends think im crazy, and i was almost crying yesterday cause i couldnt afford the FM special eiditon doubledisk...and its the only place ive ever seen it.
They hate when i dress like stevie/chris [more stevie], and they cant beleive im going as her for halloween again. my friends all have thier heads up thier butts if they cant at least respect my taste in music...oh well...
