Got my 'Crystal Visions' LP from Amazon.com this past week, and it's a welcomed addition to the ever-expanding Stevie collection. So what does everybody think of the first vinyl Stevie release since..gosh, was it 'Behind The Mask' or 'Timespace'??
The front and back covers look lovely large and the color resolution is beautiful. I like that it opens up as a gatefold LP, and also like the double-sided insert, for some reason the pics of Stevie and Mick at the military casket and of Stevie with her parents and her dedications below the pic w her parents have a lot more poignancy and poetry to them seeing them on the 12x12 insert than in the cd booklet. The records themselves sure are weighty! I only wish that the sleeves that house the 2 records weren't plain white. I would have loved a 12x12 sleeve of that Vanity Fair magazine photo, used on the cover of the cd-dvd booklet of 'Crystal Visions'-- It's nice that Stevie's artwork (same as on the cd&dvd) appear on the labels on the vinyl... The only negative for me is the plain white record sleeves, such a missed opportunity for large Stevie photos (like the record sleeve inside of 'The Other Side of The Mirror' lp-- i had 'crystal visions' of possibly 4 full-sized Stevie sleeve pics before it arrived in the mail. But overall, I'm very pleased with having it. Anyone else? Oh..just recalled that of-course there was a vinyl release of Stevie's "Planets of The Universe" maxi-single. But it has been a long while since a full Stevie or Mac cd has been available on vinyl, I hope there will be more. Last edited by Nikolaj; 07-21-2007 at 11:52 PM.. |

And if one has such super ears that detect the miniscule wear and tear after each play, then one better not touch it at all!

It's worth buying if you collect vinyl. If you don't you probably don't need it. When I started getting Stevie music, vinyl was all I was able to get (well, cassettes or 8-tracks too!!). I have all of the albums on vinyl that have been released in that format, the last one that I've actually played however is "Rock A Little" for Stevie and "Tango" for the Mac. The others I bought as well as the CD and only play the CD.
As for CV, it's cool to have Stevie back on vinyl again. It's clearly for collectors. If you have a high end stereo system, then the 180 gram vinyl will sound better than the CD, otherwise, it's just something to have. |

That's true about the earlier CDs, the LPs came FIRST, so totally the opposite, thanks for letting me know ![]() |
