Default Candles

Ok, I'm a big candle fan, but I'm having a hard time finding a brand that really does smell throughout the whole room like they all advertise. My latest try was those Glade scented oil candles. They're not bad, but I really want somthing better. Who likes what brands, and what have you all had success with?

Ugh..let the flogging begin.

I actually like these candles I buy at Wal-Mart. I don't know the brand, they're unique to Wal-Mart but smell wonderful - some of them...I like the Hazlenut Cream or something. They last a long time, smell throughout my whole apartment and don't smell cheap and skanky.

And they are cheap (price wise)

I can't afford the big expensive Yankee and Illume candles and such - so I'm a cheapskate - but I think you get a good deal with those Wal-Mart candles.

That said, I haven't bought candles in about 6 months...and I actually haven't shopped there in a while

I'm a huge candle freak. My house is filled with them.
Two that I constantly buy: Trapp Garden's Fresh Cut Tuberose and Tyler Candles French Market. My house smells incredible...

Nothing smells as good as Trapp candles or lasts as long- they stink up my whole house just sitting in a closet, un-lit. They're pricey but really worth it- my favorite scent is Orange Vanilla- I love them!!

I like Votivo and Egro soy because they don't produce any soot. They are also really fragrant.

Partylite is usually good but expensive. I usually wait for Yankee coupons before I'll buy there.

David you may want to try tarts in warmers. They last longer & the scent is stronger, IMO.

^^

Ooh warmers..that's one of the big reasons I haven't bought candles in so long - I discovered The Body Shop's home oils and burners....oh man SOOO good.

So that's what I'm all about and they totally smell up the entire place...I've had something that smells like Christmas tree burning all season, now I'll probably switch to Vanilla or something warm and wintry - after that I'm all about the Satsuma!

L'Occitane makes FABulous candles too! I first heard about them because of Stevie. They're having a huge online clearance sale right now.

The vanilla, lavender and almond delight ones are my favorite.

They also make the best hand cream known to man.

I go back & forth between liking food scents (shocking, I know) & more perfumey ones. Home & Garden (whose candles I'm not typically a fan of) had a scent called Country Breeze that I loved. Then they discontinued it.

I like fresh linen/clean cotton types scents for the bathrooms, cinnammon (OMG, why can't I figure out how to spell that?) baked goods types for the living room, and musk/perfume types for the bedroom. I currently have a Teakwood & Cardommom (sp) Partylite tart in our room. Love it.

I know my local Hallmark store carries them now, which is new and weird- they don't have a huge selection but they carry the basics, like orange vanilla- which I am obsessed with and think is all you need, ever. I can't go into Hallmark anymore because otherwise I'll walk out with more.

When I can afford the splurge, I order from thecandleshop.net. You can get a discount in bulk. I buy the votives, but the poured candles are really great too, just a little pricier. They burn really well, really clean- no waste like you get with cheap candles. These burn ALL the way down.
