I wrote this for Epinions.com earlier today. You can throw rocks at me if you want to. But if you don't want to throw rocks at me, you can always read it here: http://www.epinions.com/content_291002158724

I really like this review, and I agree with most of it - most Fleetwood Mac fans wouldn't say 'Rumours' is their best album...

I found it an interesting read, but I felt as if you were trying to convey everything you disliked about each song. Perhaps had you been reviewing the album 28 years ago it would've read differently. You're reviewing it now in hindsight after having heard it all these years. It's biased in that sense thus not really a solid review.

I have to agree with mylittledemon.
With all due respect... and as a FM fan of nearly 30 years, it didn't really make much sense. It sounds more like a personal vendetta against the band and they could do no right. For those of us who are somewhere between your "geritol" crowd and the modern day techies.... we have a different understanding of the album and therefore a different appreciation for what it meant and when it was released. Sure, if you asked me to review any of the "music" out today, I wouldn't be able to give a fair and balanced response. So bottom line, I don't get what the point was. ![]()

I think this is both insightful and entertaining. A tough combo to pull off.
I like the attitude, and agree with many of the sentiments. Even the sentimetns I don't quite agree with are backed up. I mean, they are opinions, so rock on. Hindsight reviews are actually pretty interesting. Considering that one can't possibly buy this in 1977 again, I like the hindsight view of it. I can close my eyes and pretend I am 11 and just hearing this. And I can immerse myself in the memories it recalls of other times. But often, I do look at it as a relic of and statement about the time in which it was created, and that is a big part of critiquing any work of art that has been done well enough to stand the test of time. It's a time capsule. Well done !

I think I must be one of the very, very few die-hard Mac fans who never gets sick of 'Rumours.'
Everytime I hear one of the songs, I can understand exactly why it struck such a chord with people. The brilliant production (the massive contributions of Ken Caillat and Richard Dashut are far too often forgotten when we're praising Lindsey for creating the "Fleetwood Mac Sound"), the lyrics, the vocal performances, the harmonies, the instrumentation... it's a very tight, cohesive album and exudes a certain energy that the band never really again captured.
