Gerald Levert has died?

JazmenFlowers · #1 11-18-2006, 11:47 PM

why am I just now (yesterday) hearing about this? apparently he died of a heart attack last Friday. how sad? I love me some LSG and whatever his new group with Keith Sweat is named. he is the only person that could touch "Somebody Loves You Baby (You Know Who It Is)" and give me chills the same way Ms. Patti herself does. such a sexy, beautiful voice and 4 children. sad sad.

side note - am I the only person in this bunch that even knows Gerald Levert? I have a friend at work who's black that says I have more black friends than she does. I asked her why she said that and she said...

"cause any white boy that can quote Mo'Nique from Queens of Comedy on a daily basis about any subject at any time is about as black as they get"

I can't speak for everyone but I've no clue who he is....Keith Sweat sounds vaguely familiar...but I've never heard of Gerald Levert

I was a bit of a Levert fan in the 80's and was sorry to hear he died so young.

No, I know who he is.

But there probably aren't too many around here who'd be familiar with him, as that kind of music generally falls outside the range of mosts Ledgies' music taste, it seems.

I'm not a huge fan of "smooth R&B" or whatever. Luther Vandross, Gerald Levert, Teddy Pendergrass, etc. Not my cup of tea. Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock, however...I'm all over.

Anyway, that is really young to die, and from a heart attack, no less.

I guess he had a massive heart attack at home. Sad.

goldie · #8 11-19-2006, 06:36 PM

Is this the "Rock Steady" guy?

Casanova was and is a great song. May he RIP

I loves me some smooth R&B. Jaz, you're not the only one, you bold soul sister you.
