Question Seattle/Vancouver folks

Okay, looks like it's going to be raining the entire time I'm in Seattle and Vancouver. Ah well...it rained in London almost the entire 3 weeks I was there, so I know how to deal.

Some questions:

Is there a transportation pass I can buy for either city? A 3 day pass would be great.

Where are the best places to shop for not only touristy stuff, but quirky stuff?

What should I absolutely not miss seeing in either city? I am thinking about taking a couple of tours in Seattle, but the weather might hold me back. Not sure yet.

If you are going to either LB Seattle or Vancouver shows and wanna meet up somewhere...PM me!

Default some ideas

Hi..Although I am not going to concert ,I can give you some ideas about the Vancouver/Seattle..How much time do you have to spend in each place..Did you know that you can take a ferry from Seatlle to Vanc? Just a thought..
In Seatlle I would definetly go to Pike Street Market...It is blocks and blocks of neat little stores..and shops..hand knitted sweaters to jewlery to just about anything ..Real cool place..and a fish market and lots of places to eat..
Bruce Lee is buried in Seatlle..and a visit there for me was a must..his grave and stone is quiet beautiful.I also ran into Jimmy Hendrix dad when I was there ..*(quite a few years ago) There is also the Space Needle ..i never made it there myself(spent to much time at Pike Market)..Not sure what else there ,its been so long and it was a quick trip into the city..
Vancouver..there is beautiful Stanley Park..or Buschart Gardens..
Granville Island is really nice with some real neat shops and a brewery..but a good taxi ride from downtown Van.not real far but to far to walk to..
Downtown Van..go to Robson Street..to do some shopping..lots of stores ..some real neat shoe and boot shops too..where alot of the hollywood stars and muscisans get theirs made.lots of one of a kind stores.Check out the van exibit and convention center..(looks like a building with Sails)
there is Gastown..another unique place (lots of boutiques and such) If you do go that area..please be careful.in the last few years it has gotten sorta rough ..such a shame cause its beautiful there..There is a restruant right behind the Steam clock..great food..(Greek)...There is Grouse Mountain..world famous skiing ..There are any number of Art Galleries..There is the Vancouver Aquarium too..I think you would enjoy Robson street and area though for your gifts souvienrs...and fyi..Native Arts and jewlery are a big thing in Bc...if you decide to buy something ...see if you can find something made by Sammy Robinson or Bill Reid..they are world famous carvers..get yourself some smoked salmon to take home..sooooooooo delish..
sighhhhhhhhhhhhh Wish I was going.....Have fun

Thumbs up Thank you!!

I am staying in Seattle for 4 days (November 14 - 17) and then taking the Amtrak to Vancouver on Saturday morning. Staying in Vancouver until Tuesday, November 21.

The Vancouver Lindsey show is at the Centre for Performing Arts (I think that's the one you are talking about). Sounds cool!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Most of those places, I'd planned on going to...like Robson Street and Gastown (I'll be extra careful there), Space Needle, Pike Place Market, etc.

Unfortunately, the weather in the Pacific Northwest looks awful, so all prayers and good thoughts for safe travels is welcome.

yeah, the weather here has been terrible the last week... very stormy... record rainfall, flooding, windy and cold. Like MoonChilde said, Pike Place Market is great for interesting shopping... also the areas outside of the Market, like Post Alley have good shopping but kind of touristy... same with the waterfront. The retail district is just up the hill from Pike Place... not really quirky but lots of shopping. At the top of the hill is Capitol Hill, where i live... cool shopping, restaurants, coffee shops, clubs, bars, etc. It's within walking distance of downtown. As far as transportation goes you can buy metro day passes but you probably won't need it... most of central downtown is in the "ride free" zone so the buses are free.

If you're interested in tourist stuff, some of the tour companies offer 2 or 3 day passes to the major attractions. You pay one fee and get entrance to all of the attractions for 3 days... it's a pretty good deal if you want to see a lot. Where are you staying? I wish I had more time this week... I'd show you around. I won't be free until Friday... maybe we can get together before the show? PM me if you have any questions about the city.
