He does a cover of Don't Let me be Misunderstood...it's not bad...

I like the other tracks too...I didn't even realize this was coming out next week...I'm so going to pick it up! Maybe There's a World...fell in love with that one right away.

And pretty much I have fallen in love w/ Cat/Yusuf again tonight...sigh. Love that man's voice...

Whoa! Thank you so much, I heard he was coming out with something. He does sound the same, but a little different.
I had many a sad, reflective, yet whimsical moment with him in my early 20's. Actually, just when I was 20 and broke up with that one guy for a few months and was really sad. But still.

The music is a bit different, some songs have a middle eastern flavor, but his lyrics seem thematically the same. It's just what you would expect him to say now that he's older, or ever.

Sometimes even while I'm admiring him, I'm like, "damn, dude, you're a wuss!" But he's a Cancer so I cut him some slack. And I mean "wuss" in the best way, you know, all sensitive and reflective and deep cheesy with a pretty voice. Did I say sappy or cheesy? Oh right, cheesy. Either way.

His cover of Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood is...*feel free to fill in the blank. I'm not quite sure how to describe it so far. * It's a bit much. The harder, less melodic tone of the music of the original offset some of the very revealingly painful lyrics. To have painful lyrics and so much musical/melodic emotion is a bit overkill.

Yes, That cover is the one thing I do not like...... It must have some relevance for him somehow somewhere to have done that. I wonder if we'll hear interviews one day...

Other than that I am very happy that we'll have the album available next week!

Sas
On a PS note, speaking of covers, Carly Simon is releasing a new album in January and does a few GREAT ones from the tracks I've heard on NPR. IF you like that kind of sweet mellowness. She covers Cat's Into White very very capably on that.....

I am not crazy about the cover either. At first I thougth the album was calld An Other Cup of Yusuf...then I realized there was no "of" and well then I was just confused....but the music is good - I'm excited...

I hope he's allowed to come to the US if he goes out on tour. Remember what happened two years ago?

Oh me too! Wow, this is awesome. My parents were into his music when I was little, so that's what I grew up with. Father and Son kills me- still brings me to tears.

I heard this album early last week - I kinda found it boring, but then again, I have never been the biggest Cat Stevens fan...

look here, Sisqo...Cat Stevens is awesome. Period. You just happen to be misguided

Just kidding - he's not everyone's cup of tea, I've a friend who pretty much hates and despises poor old Cat/Yusuf.

I just happen to adore him. I remember when I first "discovered" him - my best friend and I watched Harold and Maude -then discovered that her ex-hippie parents had a bunch of Cat Stevens records...oh good times.

I've loved him since.

I'm way excited for the album..what a great week - Lindsey on Monday Yusuf on Tuesday

OMG, Sisqo was years ago - why wont anyone let it go

I don't even like Cat's earlier stuff, so Im probably not the best judge of the new album. Im sure though that I will be forced to listen to it in the store, so I will no doubt hear it a million times over - it may grown on me

LOL...you never live something like that down

Yeah--if you don't like Cat's earlier stuff then this probably won't be the album for you...it's very much Cat...not a whole lot different than early stuff...Oh well...I still say you're redeemed because of your love for Mac and Sophie

Oh yeah, and I love George Harrison too, don't forget that

And that reminds me, have you picked up Sophie's live disc yet? I got it a month or so back...
