Sufjan Stevens

Did anyone else catch Austin City Limits with this group? I saw it on Detroit's PBS station last night. It was like The Free Design doing Yes songs excerpts dressed up as the Bugaloos backed by Blood Sweat And Tears or something! I have never heard or seen this kind of thing before, the closest things I can relate this to are Stereolab and The Magnetic Lines. He/they pulled it off on a very crowded stage wearing goofy paper fairy wings in Texas.

Sufjan Stevens seems to have about eight CDs released and I don't know where to begin. Calexico came on the station right after them and I thought they were pretty interesting too. PBS really puts some great stuff on through Austin City Limits and Sound Stage, the heck with SNL, why do they only ever have on the latest tenny-bopper crap half the time now? They used to book interesting musical acts, although Beck with his puppet theater the other week was really fun. God bless PBS!!! Now if they'd just have gotten the rights to old Old Grey Whistle Stop shows instead of Lawrence Welk...

Well, it is true that if "you become a Bugaloo there's so much more that you can do to make this world a better place to be."

My brother is a big fan of him and his music was all through the movie "In Good Company".
