VH1 Classic-Ladies Only

[mikeschmike]

I just heard about this last week, and decided to tune in. It was a four hour block of all female (or female fronted bands) videos from the 70's to current. I caught an hour or so of this last night and they played some pretty cool videos. Some not so great, but that was to be expected. I didn't catch any Stevie/FM videos but they did show Blondie, two great early live Heart performances, The Runaways, The Pretenders, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and of course the 80's music video queen herself...Madonna.

I loved that Patti Smyth was the host, and I really loved how messed up she seemed. Not in a strung out kind of way, but more of a disconnected glazed over kind of attitude. As she was reading the teleprompter she would stop and throw some of her own wit into it (her comment about Debbie Harry's "nice ass" was classic).

Did any of you catch part or all of this? I hope they keep it up, and show more rockin' women. For instance, Gypsy would have gone with the format a lot better then Aretha's Freeway of Love, which I had to mute.

I did see the Rosebud Rhiannon.

I watched some of that off and on. I saw The Runaways, which I haven't seen in a long time. It was great! I'm glad to see them giving women rockers their due.
