Default Help!

Okay, here's the sitch. Lindsey's opening night (???) concert is in Virginia on October 9th (Monday). I am supposed to go on a vacation to NM and CO with my parents that week. We are leaving Saturday, the 7th and will be returning on the 12th or 13th.

Dilemma.

My parents have never been on a vacation by themselves. I'm their only child. Do I wanna fight with them on this for the next 2 months as to why I don't love them because I want to go see Lindsey instead of going back to NM and CO with them which we've been to countless times in my 30 years of being on this Earth?

There are other shows to go to, but that entire week...I won't be able to go to any if any will be scheduled...which I'm sure they will be.

What do I do? Tickets for this show go on sale in like less than 3 hours.

Well gosh - it sounds like you want to go the Lindsey route. You're an adult and I think you should do what you want to do. Tell your parents you think its' high time they take time with each other and enjoy the vacation by themselves....then you can enjoy your own Lindsey-filled vacation

Hopefully your parents will understand - if not, who cares - you'll get to see Lindsey

I think you should go for what you want to do most, which appears to be the concert. I think your parents would understand and be excited for you. you've had many vacays before and have many more years to take splendid ones...how often do you get to see something like this?

even if they get pissed, they'll get over it...what choice do they have?

Exclamation Lol

I know I'm an adult. Would you like to come to my home and explain that to my mom?

She was hoping that he'd be in NM or CO while we were there as she'd go with me to see him. I'm sure she'll go with me when he comes to Texas (Please!!).

Pray for me, ya'll. LOL

I need to know if this is opening night or not. Like now.

I don't know if it's opening night, but the only other dates I've heard confirmed are two weeks AFTER that VA date.

Is opening night really that big a deal? If I were you, I'd wait until all tour dates have been released so you can map out a logical plan instead of just flying so far for just one show. You can always buy the VA tickets to be safe and dump them if necessary.

Thanks for the info, Hayley! Yep, I was thinking of buying a ticket, just in case, then dumping it when the date gets closer if I absolutely cannot go.

I don't understand this one date being released. It's wierd. I want all the dates, so I can do just what you said...map out which shows to hit and skip.

That promoter just jumped the gun. I think we'll have the full list of dates by next Friday. A couple of the bigger cities were just confirmed in the last day or two with management, though they've been in negotiations for a month or two.

ETA: Seriously, I'd really rather wait for them to get all these dates out and confirmed and set in stone before anything. There was just a huge fiasco with Cardigans dates being announced and put on sale in the US before the band had actually signed the contracts and agreed to the dates, and they were all cancelled and refunded. Sucks.

I think Hayley's advice is pretty sound myself.
I have to wait until they're all announced personally before deciding to go or not as it's a pretty big expense for me to fly to the US if I do. I need to know where and when and if it's possible to go to more than one show.
Anyway, thanks for the info Hayes.

I don't think anyone can make that call for you. Having said that, I would go with my parents. I look at it this way, if you don't go a Lindsey concert, he isn't going to miss you. He won't be sad that you aren't there, and you won't ruin his night. Your parents on the other hand love you, and will miss you. They probably won't enjoy their vacation as much without you. I think in the long run if you didn't go with them, you'd probably regret it too.
Isn't that rotten luck though? Well, I hope the dates are wrong and you get to do both!

Exclamation Thanks everyone

I think I'm going to wait this out. Go on my trip (to Colorado for the 5,500,895time), come home and outline my trip across the U.S.

Places I hope he plays:

Boston
New York City
Chicago
Seattle
Phoenix
Dallas (Houston, Austin, San Antonio...any of those are fine)
San Francisco

And I hope he clusters dates so I'll have to be on a plane less.

Ultimately Christy as long as you get to see him play live I don't think it matters whether it's opening night or the last night of the tour. You'll get to see Lindsey solo, which is pretty cool. I'm sure the first night would be exciting but I'm also pretty sure this is gonna be a short tour, so I can't imagine that excitement will die down too much over the few weeks he's on the road.

Arrow Sharon...

Yeah, it was a knee-jerk reaction. LOL I have to remind myself that there are folks who won't get to see him at all....so I'm blessed.

Is it possible there would be a show in the NM/CO area during the week you will be there? Gosh Christie...I have a trip to plan too. I hope he lets us know ASAP.

Christy,

Anytime that I make vacation plans with anyone I have the stipulation that if Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks or especially Lindsey Buckingham go on tour I am there
I would as other have said wait for the rest of the tour dates before you decide. Yes, there will be other shows but is there anything like being in front of Lindsey for opening night? I think not.

Jeez, I haven't been on vacation with my parents since I was a teen & the way they fight, I wouldn't want to go with them (though they don't go on vacation anymore anyway). Lindsey hasn't even released all his tour dates. I would just wait if I were you. I'm sure he'll come closer to where you live anyway, but that's up to you if you want to be there on opening night. I'm sure he's going hang on the East coast for a bit & then head West.

Lee

Oh, & have a nice vacation!
