Default Petty tunes

Even if you're not that familiar with their material, there are certain artists that have so many hits or well known songs that there's bound to be one that you like - or really hate. I figured I'd start a thread about Petty since he's currently touring (and neck & neck with Zep in the battle of the bands finale.) Maybe I'll do other artists in the future.

Here are mine. I've tried to narrow it down, because there are a lot:

Favorite:
Insider
American Girl
Square One
You Wreck Me (the corduroy pants/high school dance line is brilliance)
Even the Losers
Yer So Bad
The Apartment Song
You Don't Know How It feels

Least Fave:
Love is a Long Road
Woman In Love (sounds too much like the above)
Jammin' Me (that friggin' Joe Piscopo line bugs the **** out of me.)

Care to share?

I agree on The Apartment song, not that anyone would be surprised. Love the harmonies on that one.

Dylan? Really. Maybe he thought anyone would remember who the hell Piscopo was in 20 years?

You know, I don't love that one either. Too much synth for me, maybe.

Shameful. Just shameful. Sigh.

You gotta at least love the video, though. Right?

I don't like You Got Lucky either!

I've been listening to Tom Petty ALL DAY long, so this thread is totally weird. I very rarely listen to his songs lately unless they pop up on random.

ETA: I managed to forget how much I F-ING LOVE Have Love Will Travel.

Sorry, I've never liked it. I find it too long and boring. But yeah, the video's good.

Nobody else cares to share? This didn't go as well as I'd hoped. Where's Amber? Eliza? Sharon? Come on, guys, please?

Well after seeing others' lists I realized my Petty fandom is shallow and well I felt a tab embarassed to share but there goes.

I love the entire Wildflowers album...MUCH love for that album plus:

MJ's last Dance
Learning to Fly
Free Falling
Last DJ
Into the Great Wide Open
Won't Back Down
Walls
The Apartment Song (demo w/ Stevie)
Don't Come Around Here No More
Runnin' Down a Dream

There ya go

Actually and I'll admit I'm actually not too familiar with a great deal of his stuff - I'm trying to remedy that.

^ But that's why I posted that you don't have to be that familiar with his stuff. I'm hoping to do this with other artists, and I know most people can't have every album by every artist (except Sharon, of course.) So I'm glad you finally posted.

For all I care, someone can say they love "Last Dance With Mary Jane" and not know anything else.
