Default Martin Wyatt

So, we know he's Christine's manager. But, what I want to know is if he's the same guy who was partially responsible for Mick Fleetwood's "The Visitor."

What do you mean? I don't have the Visitor album(I only have a CDR), so I've never seen the liner notes. I think Martin Wyatt has mainly been associated with Christine. He was a producer of that 1984 laser disc documentary. He was also mentioned in the thank you credits for the Chain box set, Time, Rumours DVD-Audio & of course, In The Meantime. He's a former music publisher.

By the way, I find it curious that Chris still has a manager when she is supposedly "retired".

It's got to be the same Martin Wyatt. How many Martin Wyatt's can there be? I wonder what he did to be called a "Superman".

Thanks for posting the liner notes, by the way! I'll print them & add them to my CDR.

I think that Martin Wyatt has been a friend of Christine's for a long time. Didn't she say that it was him who suggested she make an album? I doubt that before she started recording ITM she needed a full time manager but perhaps someone to advise on financial matters? She must have a hell of a lot of money to keep track of and invest. A good while back now Q Magazine estimated that she was worth £25,000,000 so I imagine that takes some looking after. although I'm sure she has specialist financial advice it's always nice to have the opinion of someone you trust.

Now that she's back to being retired again I'm sure Martin has gone back to his role of trusted adviser. I think he's probably semi retired himself - he's about her age.

You're probably right. I remember that Q Magazine article. That was in 1998, just after she retired from Fleetwood Mac. That's probably close to $50,000,000 now in U.S. dollars. It could be considerably more now if she & Mr. Wyatt did a good job of investing it. Her property & apartment alone should have appreciated a good deal since then, assuming real estate did as well in the U.K. as here in the U.S. these last few years. Also, his job may be to make sure that she gets all royalty income that she is due. I have an interview with her from around 1987 in which she mentions that she had to have someone to look after these kinds of things or she'd get ripped off. She's obviously known him for ages & trusts him.

That's the first thing I thought, when somebody questioned why she'd still need a manager. As long as there are still royalties for her(and there always will be), somebody needs to monitor them.

I think she likes have people around her she trusts. I'm sure being her manager is not a full time job but I suspect he's more of a friend.

I cling to the possiblity that she keeps him around for future projects! God, here's hoping.

BTW: As of 1998 she was worth about 50,000,000 American dollars? Holy crap. I knew she was well off, but I had no idea. No wonder her home near Kent is --in her own words--as big as the town...Compared to some stars, I suppose 50 mill is small beans, but not for a musician who has been largely inactive for the past fifteen years.

she bought her house in Kent in 1990 when I imagine she was still earning a hell of lot of money. I would have thought the London flat was financed out of the sale of her L.A. home.

The figure of USD50,000,000 would include property but she's probably very shrewd with her investments which is probably where Mr Wyatt comes in.

I wonder how Eddy Quintela figured into this. I doubt his name was on her L.A. home, maybe her current home in Kent, but maybe not. I'll bet she had a good, airtight pre-nuptual agreement to protect herself.

Yes I wonder about that. I'd hazard a guess that there was some kind of settlement made to him but perhaps part of the deal was that he kept quiet?

To their credit neither of them (to my knowledge) has spoken about the split but perhaps as I said he'd lose money if he did.

I bet the flat in London is worth a fortune. I'm only guessing but I'm thinking upwards of £2,000,000 for a place like that with that location and I imagine better security than Fort Knox.

Wow! And, she probably spends very little time there. I know you've never seen her property in Kent, but what do you think something like that might be worth?
