Default MTV Awards

I recently rewatched a clip from the 1988 (?) MTV Awards where La Nicks and CM are presenters for Best Group Song - the Talking Heads won.

When they walk up to the podium from the audience, the affection between the two is very palpable. Then, when they get up there, CM kisses La Nicks on the forehead.

It was really pleasant to see those two really behaving like sisters.

I wish CM would write a book on her relationship with La Nicks. It would be very interesting to see it from that vantage point as I think they have always gotten along, though I am sure like everyine else, they have had their moments.

I have it in tape. I do not know how to put that in a computer format. If someone knows how to do this, please let me know. Interestingly, it also has the pre show street interview, where CM is just fab saying how she is not liking her dress and would rather be in jeans.

I love that she loves to be casual. I wish I knew how to convert VHS to digital, but I don't. Is that the awards show where Stevie's wearing that blue (I think) dress? And there are pictures of Stevie holding CM from behind?

Ohmahgolly... is that the royal blue sparkly colored one with the matching boots? If so, I own that outfit and would soooo love a vid of her wearing it... please PM me if you're interested in a trade or something.

I always thought that would be interesting as well. Though I agree they seemed to have gotten along amazingly well, nevertheless hearing CM's actual perspective on the whys and hows and whats of that relationship would be interesting. Because they were not so much friends of choice, but became good friends nevertheless. I think they are both classy and respectful and intelligent enough to not let any petty feelings flourish.

I have a snippet of this on tape, but mine doesn't have Chris kissing Stevie on the forehead. I don't think I have the entire segment. And, I don't have that pre-show interview of Chris saying she'd rather be casual than in jeans. That does sound exactly like her. I don't have the means to transfer tape to digital, although I wish I did. I think you have to have special software to do this, but I'm no expert.

I'd love for Chris to write a book about her life. Two years ago, she did kind of hint that she'd be interested in writing a book, but I'm not sure she was serious. She'd have to be honest & I don't think she'd want to embarrass anyone, especially John.

Those pics are from the same show I have.

It also is hysterical to see La Nicks and CM read from the teleprompter - they sort of roll their eyes while doing it!!!

Gosh, I never saw this clip. I can't imagine them reading from a teleprompter. Judging from the thumbnails, I'd say they both look "tres 80s" in their colorful dresses with loads of makeup and high hair.

Nicks looks thinner than I'd have guessed for this time. Maybe she didn't put on weight for another few years? Also, at this stage, she was feeling insecure without Lindsey in the band, and I suppose Chris' big-sister affection kept her grounded.
