Default Pronunciation of Christine's first name

Does anyone here say christine's first name like chris-stein---"tine" as in tine of a fork?

Does Christine do this?

Hmmm.... I've always assumed it was pronounced Chris-teen. Or possibly CHRIS-teen (with emphasis on the first syllable). But I've never heard the name Christine pronounced like you had it.....

As for Chris herself, I also assumed she said her name the same way as one of the above mentioned.....

Interesting thought, though. :-)

I would pronounce it CHRISteen with the emphasis on the first syllable but I've noticed some people pronounce it ChrisTEEN.

Never Chris-stein!

I actually pronounce it ChrisTEEN. I think it might be a British thing. I believe John pronounces it CHRISteen.

Maybe it is a British thing because I've heard Lindsey say ChrisTEEN

Talking What's in a name?

I have a girlfriend (in America) who's name is Michele. I have head this named pronounced MANY different ways. She prefers "Me-shell" as opposed to "mha-Shell"- like my other friend, pronounces her name.
And excuse my rather poor phonics-like spelling..but you get the point-

Two nations divided----interesting thought on this 4th of July, where we created our
Declaration of Independance from England- here...where
"We hold these truths to be self-evident"...etc.

Enjoy the day with whoever, whatever or wherever you are celebrating, whatever

I have heard Mick and John (and Chris herself) pronounce it CHRIStine , w/ the emphasis most definitely on the 1st syllable, I suppose that is the British way. Lindsey and Stevie always say ChrisTEEN.

Never heard it pronounced Chris-stein LOL

Hmm...I always pronounce Michele as "mi-SHELL" with the i pronounced like "mint". However, remember the great Beatles song, Michele? Paul McCartney pronounced it "ME-shell".

I don't think I can pronounce it CHRISteen. I've been saying it the American way for 30 years.

Oh, I know! My mom always refers to her as "Christie" and that just drives me nuts!

But now I'm confused -- If I ever have a daughter, I plan to name her Christine -- and I'm not sure which way I want to pronounce it!!!
