Default Whats easier to play

I was just curious, a friend of mine just purchased a Chet Atkins (nylon) Classical, and this has kind of driven me to learn to play some of Lindseys Dance Classical-style songs (Go Insane, and Big Love).

I was just more curious, I am very very amateaur, and was wondering which song is easier to play. It seems Go Insane, but confirmation would be really nice.

On a seperate topic, what are some good starter Fleetwood Mac songs to learn how to play? Tusk sounds pretty easy, but I found the chord progressions kinda tricky, maybe a bad tab...

I find Go Insane easier to play, but I don't play an exact copy, actually. Song leaves a bit more room to add some of your own than Big Love, in my experience. Been playing BL for years and still mess it up

Good luck and lots of fun with learning them

I think I would have to say Go Insane is much easier. I cant play all of it yet but as Mari says it leaves more room for improvising a wee bits in.

Anyone who can play either of them is worthy of worship in my eyes.

I can't imagine how you do it!

Go insane is deffinatly the easier option. Big love is a tricky one as when your learing it and playing it "slow" it sounds nothing like it does when played at the correct speed. If you learn it bit by bit then but it all together and then build up the speed its not so bad. Still I'd never be able to play AND sing it at the same time.

I'd imagine Red Rover would be the hardest Lindsey song to play and i'm at the point where I'd love a tab of something like shut us down, say gooddbye or red rover.

Goodluck with learing both songs, they're both loads of fun to play

Not that I'm any kind of expert, but a guitar playing friend of mine told me Never Going Back Again is one of the most difficult songs he's learned to play.

Go Insane is much easier I agree. Everything Tom said I'd agree with. I learnt Go Insane in a day or 2 to sing and play at the same time and after 3 months I still can't play Big Love yet. I can play bits of it but when I try putting it all together it goes wrong. It's going to be a year or 2 before I even think about trying to sing it at the same time lol.

I was going to tab Red Rover soon so I was. The Soundstage one anyway since it seemed easier to hear, but I think they're more or less exactly the same anyway. And Say Goodbye is another song I'd love to get tabs for, but I think I'll probably end up tabbing it myself on PowerTab or Guitar Pro 5 (I can't use text tabs anymore, I find the quality to be far too low generally I always tab my own stuff or get it from www.mysongbook.com or www.powertab.com)

I thought it was hard at first since it was the first finger/Travis picking song I ever played, but a couple of months down the line I can sing it and play it at the same time. It's become my party piece. I'm getting requests to bring my guitar just to play it now, even though I still think I'm pretty sloppy
If you've never played that sort of style it would be really hard at first, but you get used to it quickly enough.

Are you learning to play guitar on a Turner? That's interesting, I've never played one so I wouldn't know but it would seem that it lends itself to such a specific style and obviously has such a specific sound that it would make learning the basics more difficult. Do you also have other guitars? To answer your other question there, I'd say Tusk is an easy place to start. I wouldn't be trying to play Big Love the way Lindsey does before figuring out something like Tusk.

But, in reality, it is the most versatile guitar I've ever played/owned. It really DOESN'T "lend itself to such a specific style" or sound...that would only be in the mind of the player.

Sure, Lindsey's style and his use of a Turner M1 is so melded together in people's minds that it is difficult for most people to separate them. But, just as you don't have to play like Les Paul to PLAY a Gibson Les Paul, or play like Eric Clapton to PLAY an Eric Clapton Signature Fender Stratocaster, you don't have to PLAY like Lindsey to play a Turner M1. (Lord knows *I* don't)

To me, it would seem that the more one plays an M1, the more their OWN sound would come through.
