Fleetwood Mac Update
Hit Parader Annual
1980 (printed in 1979)

The news from Fleetwood Mac is pretty much the same as it's been for the past several months: they're in the studio recording another album. And after the extraordinary success of "Rumours" (which has sold more than 13 million copies internationally), the group is making certain that this new LP will be as good as their last.

The album, untitled as of this writing, will be a double-record set with 22 original tunes including Stevie Nicks' "Sister of the Moon," which was premiered during Fleetwood Mac's 1978 summer tour, & "Beautiful Child," the lullabye they've donated to the "Music for UNICEF" campaign. The others were chosen from a wealth of material written by Stevie, Christine McVie & Lindsey Buckingham over the past two years, so it's safe to say that they're recording only the best.

Talking about the choice of "Beautiful Child" as their gift to UNICEF (proceeds from the songs' copyrights will be used to help needy children around the world), Stevie says, "It is my most special song--the dearest thing I have to give. From Fleetwood Mac to the children, with love."

Even though this is the album that practically everyone's been waiting for, the group isn't "rushing it." They went into the studio at the beginning of September (right after their tour) &, after nearly three months, had just about reached the midway point. If everything goes according to plan, the album will be ready for a late spring/early summer release.

While recording, the group has also been doing photo sessions for the album cover, which will include the work of several photographers.

And if that isn't enough to keep them busy, Stevie & Christine joined Bob Welch in the studio to record some background vocals for his new album, "Three Hearts."
