Default Insense & Peppermints: Strawberry Alarm Clock

If you go here:

http://members.boardhost.com/guruv1/

You can chat with some of the guys from the Strawberry Alarm Clock. Ed King, who was with SAC and later joined Lynyrd Skynyrd, posts regularly.

They're a fun, eclectic bunch of guys who are always digging up old pictures, reviews and mp3s.

What was it with fruit-themed band names at that time?

There were also Psychotic Pineapple and Electric Prunes.

And thinking back, they were all pretty good.

...let's not forget Wild Cherry (of "Play That Funky Music" fame).

...and how soon we forget The Cranberries.

Bzzzzzzzzzt!!! Sorry, there are no vowels in that band's name. See? Here's the correct spelling:

Dang! I knew that... and I was trying soooo hard to type that name with no vowels and I'll be dam*ed if one didn't sneek in anyway!!

Leonard Skinard... okay?! I mean, really.

For reals- I think they were from San Fran during the height of the psychodelic era.

Oh... The Chocolate Watch Band. Hey they sound pretty good. "Melts in Your Brain But Not on Your Wrist." Hhmmmm... now what on Earth could they have been referring to?!

Was it "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, I've Got Love In My Tummy."?

Why do we know this stuff?

As my father used to say - "How come you can remember every song since 1960 but you can't remember to take out the trash?"

I get accused of that sort of thing. We had a Rock and Roll Jeopardy at work to raise funds for the Food Bank and there were two people on the panel who knew a lot more useless old rock and roll trivia than I did. We're not alone! lol!
