Exclamation Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony

It's times like this I wish I lived in Melbourne

But I just hope it doesn't top Sydney still

From what little I saw during my lunch hour at work, it looked fab, with big styilised fish and an aboriginal billabong. I didn't quite get the motorcyclists and the ballerinas, but hey...loved that flying tram
The fire works up the Yarra and across the city were spectacular! looking forward to all the games....

i thought the commonwealth opening ceremony was really great - SO much better than the torino olympics opening or closing. the ballet dancers in the air and the fish were both really cool. exactly what an opening should look like! and the best - only about an hour long!

yer I think the athletes entrance was the longest part of the show, it is much easier watching it a home language though.

the interesting thing is when I was in melbourne for the stevie shows there was no atmosphere there like up in sydney before 2000, it was pumping about 2 months before hand up here.

I'm sure they'll get into the swing of things once it all gets going. I have been to both Melbourne and Sydney (years ago) and I do think Melbourne is alot "quieter/clamer" as a city, with a less busy bustle about it, I remember Sydney as being fast and furious, so maybe it's just the way it is, you know.Depends what you like really, give me calm any day...
