Question RAL Tourbook

I was thinking about selling my RAL tourbook, but they dont seem to be going very high these days to they? *Not saying I'm trying to make tons of money of it, but, from what I've seen on ebay, it doesnt seem like it would be worth the trouble. What do you think?

That tourbook used to go for so much more money 8-10 years ago. I've noticed recently that many FM/SN collectables have dropped significantly in value. My recommendation is to hang on to it. Time is on your side.

I got mine for pretty cheap. Around $20 I think.

It all cycles. That's why I collect stuff I like, and if it is worth some cash, then that's fine. If not, oh well I still like it.

Exactly. Things are only worth what people are willing to pay for them. Someone mentioned earlier that FM and Stevie things seem to be at a low right now, and I've noticed that too. Not a lot of interesting things out there right now, and the stuff that is seems to be outrageously priced. My advice to anyone considering e-bay to make some extra cash is to look around your house for things you don't think would necessarily be worth much, then check to see if they are selling on e-bay. I used to collect a lot of action figures several years ago. I was looking to sell some of my star wars line that came out in the late 90's. I remember some of them were worth over $50.00 when they came out and still are listed in that range in collectors magazines. When I looked on e-bay no one was buying them, even the ones listed for a couple of bucks. Then happened to see a spiderman figure from the animated series selling for over $20. I happened to have the same one so I listed it and got $42.00 for it! Now the same one only seems to be getting about $15.00. I guess timing has a lot to do with it.

That was nuts when those came out. All of the nitpicky variations. Bobba Fett with half hand decal...with blue pants....etc....etc. And chase figures in cases.... and (What do you mean I know a bit too much about this?... ) My friends and I made a ton of cash when that craze was at its height. There was such a feeding frenzy from people who JUST HAD TO HAVE IT. Much like the Beany babby Craze. Big bucks for a little piece of fluff with a tag. But hey, if you had fun with it, why not..?

LOL! I can't believe someone actually knows about Bobba Fette and the half circle on his hand! Do you know how many times I looked mine to see if it was the really expensive one! Then there are the Obi Wan figures with the long saber, or short saber. The full photo on the back, or the half.. I really thought that they would be worth a ton of money by now because 10 years ago people would buy them out of the box and then sell them for $50 at a collectors shop. I used to work at a toy store so that's how I got into collecting. I've managed to unload a few things, but most everything I bought is sitting in a box in my closet. Who knows, maybe one day it will help me retire.

You can always set a reserve price on the auction. That's when you put a sort of secret price on the auction that must be met, and if the winning bidder did not meet or exceed that reserve price, you don't have to sell it (just in case you weren't aware). You'll notice on some auctions, if you bid, it may say next to the bidding price "reserve not yet met." I do think it costs a little extra for you to do that though. Even still, at least this way you will find out if it is worth it, and if it isn't, then you won't have to let go of it.

It seems that in the last few years things have come down quite a bit. I suppose its all part of a cycle.

I knew people who would hire kids ...to work at Toys-r-us, just to get chase figures! So the kid would get 2 paychecks! It was nuts! You could buy a case of figures, sell off the short run figure for enough where the rest cost you nothing. Sell off the rest at below retail, and make a nice profit. I kept just a few gems, and sold off everything else a few years ago. The price guides were never accurate, but they were suppose to be "only a guide". Yes, there is a dark side to action figures.... Was a nice wave while it lasted. I wonder how Beanie babbies are doing? never kept up. NOW THERE was a cutthroat area. Some of those people were hijacking trucks at one point! seriously. The beanie baby organized crime syndicate! We stayed clear of that whole area! Although I have one bat, thought it was cool.

Curious. Why do you want to sell it?
