Giant TVs

My husband just bought an enormous TV. I am sick over it. Don't get me wrong, he was smart about it (did his research, got a no-interest payment plan, saved up more than half the $$$) and I've sure spent my fair share of $$$ on Mac shows.

But a 50" TV?!?! WTF? I don't get it. Yeah, yeah, HDTV, bigger & better, blah blah blah. I still don't get it. I just think it's a collosal waste of $$$ (yes, my Mac shows, don't remind me) when we could have used it for something else (investments, savings, home improvements.)

Do any of you have huge TVs? Are TV shows/video games/DVDs really that much better? Will seeing The Dance on the giant TV blow me away? How long will I continue to have this sick feeling in my stomach about paying so much for a TV (a TV, for God's sake, a friggin' TV!)
