Default RIP Wendie Jo Sperber

I just saw this on Perez...sad...I loved her in Bachelor Party also.

Heaven Bless Our Buddy

From Bosom Buddies to Back to the Future, actress Wendie Jo Sperber was an integral part to our '80s experience. Her quick one-liners and distinct, rich voice made her unforgettable. And she will truly be missed.

At the too young age of 47, Sperber died on Tuesday in her Los Angeles home, after an eight-year-long battle with breast cancer.

"The memory of Wendie Jo is that of a walking inspiration," Sperber's Bosom Buddies co-star Tom Hanks said in a statement. "She met the challenges of her illness with love, cheer, joy and altruism. We are going to miss her as surely as we are all better for knowing her."

After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997, Sperber, a native of L.A., became an advocate for cancer care. In 2001, she founded the weSPARK Cancer Support Center, which provides free emotional support, information and social activities for individuals and families affected by cancer. She also helped unveil and promote a breast cancer stamp for the U.S. Postal Service in 1998.

"I get e-mails and letters from people saying weSPARK has changed their life," Sperber told PEOPLE in a 2002 interview. "And I know that's healing me."

Sperber is survived by a son and daughter, her parents, two sisters and a brother, the Associated Press reports.

We raise a glass to Wendie Jo and all those loved ones we have lost along the way to breast cancer. And, being that today is World Aids Day we ask that you please give back. We are putting our money where our mouth is and donating to two charities whose work we really admire.

AmFAR and the National Women's Cancer Research Alliance (NWCRA).

Paz!

I know....so sad. I read about it this morning in shock. Loved her in Bosom Buddies and 1941.

Bless her heart.

I was sad when I read that last night. I was lucky enough to have met her around 1997 or 1998 when she volunteered at an event of ours. With all the celebrities we had to deal with she stood out for really being there to help and not be seen. I was hoping she would beat cancer and thought she had when she appeared on Will and Grace.

I loved me some Wendie Jo.

When I lived in Sherman Oaks years ago, I always used to see her. I didn't know exactly who she was at first - she had changed of course. But I struck up a conversation and she was always so nice to talk to. We went to the same grocery store, Starbucks, Tower records, newsstands. She was a cool neighborhood lady. I feel so sad for her family, and think she kicked ass for working so hard on her charity even when she was sick.

Wendie Jo seemed like such a great gal... always hysterically funny in every show or movie she was in, but, more importantly, a genuinely kind-hearted and friendly (from every account I've ever read) person.

She will be missed, but I'm certain she'll never be forgotten.

Arrow Wendie Jo...

Yeah, she was on Designing Women too...in the ep with the jerk photographer. She was his assistant. 'Member that?

Anyways, I liked her too and was sad to read this morning about her passing.

My condolences to her family, friends and fans.

All I remember from Bachelor Party is that scene with the horse in the elevator. What was her role in it?

She was on a Married.....With Children, too. She played Al's girlfriend from high school, who had possession of his game winning football. Very funny.

What?! I had no idea. I miss Bosom Buddies... It should be released on DVD; I know I'd definitely buy it.

She also played Billy Bob Thorton's wife the first season of "Hearts Afire", a show from the early 90's starring John Ritter and Markie Post.

I loved Bosom Buddies. I miss that show.

This is such sad news. She seemed like such a great person from everything I've read about her. And I loved her in every movie/show I've seen her in.
