Default I've got something cool to tell yall.

I saw Walk The Line tonight....and there's a part in the beginning around 1955.... they're driving to Tyler Texas to open for George 'no show' Jones....well...the cool part is that my Grandaddy Leonard Daniel was Jones' bassist at that time....
neat huh?
my grandfather's comment when he saw Elvis Presley play..
"That boy will never amount to nothin."

I just thought I would tell yall that..

Ciao!

That's really cool that your Grandad was in his band .George Jones must have more than nine lives seeing as he's still alive and making albums.I especially love the duets he did with Tammy during and after their marriage.

That is very cool! You should post a Pic of your grandfather, if you have one of him in the band. I have an old ragged George Jones LP with a closeup of him and his crazy flattop - I wonder if his whole band looked like that. I believe the Jordanaires were featured on this LP. Love it!

My Aunt Mert..the oldest...and keeper of all the family memorbilia...will be here for Thanksgiving tomorrow... I'll ask her to dig through the Daniel Family Vaults and find a good picture for ya'll to see.... she's got some cool stories about George Jones... i remember one she told me..he was dangling her upside down by her ankles... i'll post some of her stories if you're interested...
My grandpa played for him for about a year or so if I remember correctly...Jones asked him to tour the U.S. ... but my grandpa refused because he had way to many kids to raise...he played for many years after with a bunch of local country bands.....he had his on group at the start of his career and they used to play shows in my Grandma's kitchen...funny huh?
i never got to meet him though...he passed in Dec. 1981...and I was born in May 1982.... we just missed each other... cool thing is that i'm the bass player in the family now..sometimes i get to play his old equipment...but that's rare because it's sacred stuff to his kids... i'm probably giving ya'll more info than you wanted to know.. but...it's cool to remember now and again..

Ciao!

When I was just a baby
My momma told me son
Always be a good boy
don't ever play with guns
But I shot a man in Reno
Just to watch him die.

You need to leave your computer right now...and drive to the nearest theatre and watch this movie... I walked away inspired went home and wrote two new jingles...they're not quite songs yet...hehe..
You'll love the scenes about his first tour with Elvis..Jerry Lee Lewis...Buddy Holly...Waylon(who is played by his son)....you get to see a performance from each of these actors .. it's too cool..

Ciao!
