Do you think Fleetwood Mac would been as sucessful if Lindsey had been asked to join the band without Stevie?????

Angel, Rhiannon, Landslide, Sisters of the moon, Gypsy, Silver Springs, I don't want to know...

The FM story would be less interesting you know, after all, she has written some of the band's best work. And together they rule!

Lindsey was asked to join the band without Stevie, right? And he said he wouldn't join if he couldn't bring Stevie with him?
Yeah, some sort of "package deal", no ?

It really has nothing to do with Lindsey or Stevie, imo, it has to with the entire Rumours line-up. They were all instrumental to the success of the band, not one person.

definitely not -
but that doesn't mean that they wouldn't have gone onto be a more interesting/risky band in terms of artistry.

there's something pretty awesome about just seeing Lindsey John and Mick play as a trio. as much as i love stevie's singing, there's something very cool about the idea of them pursuing a more Tusk-oriented path.

oh well.

dreams is still one of my all time favorites, and without it, they would have taken a different place in history.

I think Fleetwood Mac would have continued on just fine without Stevie...perhaps had some other members. Maybe they wouldn't have been as "memorable" as Stevie. My father for one, loves fleetwood mac but hates all the stuff with Stevie (except the first white album). I on the other hand, generally only prefer the stuff WITH Lindsey and Stevie. Go figger.

I'd actually say no. I think the band could have had a few hits and had a respectable career, but I seriously doubt that it would have been "as successful" as it was. There was a chemistry/balance with those five that, when one is taken out of the mix, just isn't the same. "Behind The Mask" and "Say You Will" are two variations on the "Rumours" band, and both fell short in terms of critical and commercial success that the "Rumours" band in full always seemed to achieve.

So what the hell happened with SYW? Oh wait, I remember who's missing...

Wrong. EVERYONE sleeps around in FM, and he's the ONLY one who didn't get away with it!

I don't think it was so much that he was sleeping around with Jenny as it was that they were carrying on in front of Mick's daughters. At least there were no kids involved with the McVies, Buckingham, or Nicks.

Perhaps not as successful but they still would have been very successful IMO. Christine and Lindsey are a great songwriting team.
