Default Sophie B. Hawkins

Who here LOVES a little bit of sophie?? she is my favourite artist, bar none, and it is suprising that very few people are actually fans, seeing as she was one of the biggest artists of the 90's. Any other closeted fans about???

I still have really good memories of the time in my young life when "Damn I wish I was your lover" had come out.

I've always loved that song.

I have a good friend who is obssessed with her- kind of like me with Stevie. Anyway, she met her and had her picture taken with her, etc.

Yay!!! Im soo glad their are some people who like her on this board!!!! "Damn" is my very fav song of hers too, but she has many other awesome songs, like "Right Beside You" , "I Want You" (Bob Dylan Cover), "As I Lay Me Down" , "Walking In My Blue Jeans" etc.. her albums "Tounges & Tails" and "Whaler" rank among my top albums of all time!!! Her album "Timbre" is okay, and her latest from 2004, "Wilderness" , is just not that good at all

Anybody own any albums??

I love her music, she has such a great voice. I remember when I first heard "As I Lay Me Down", and then they were interviewing her (I think it was on VH1), and they mentioned "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover", but back then I never knew she sang that so I was like "That's HER?!" I love both those songs though, they're awesome.

That song is so sexy it makes me feel bisexual! She made an appearance on Party of Five when that show was a hit. She's got a very unique style and I love her voice. How sexy is that song? Damn.

Here's another fan, though it's been a while since I last listened to her. Haven't even heard that last album, maybe I shouldn't then
But yeah, verrrry sexy music indeed!

I own the Cd that has "Damn Wish I Was Your Lover" on it. I just love that song. It is fun that we are talking about this song, because I heard it on the radio on the way home from work yesterday. How weird?!

Are you for real?!? She's your favourite artist and that's what you have to say about Wilderness? Maybe you need to listen to it some more. IMO it's a brilliant album. Have you seen Sophie on tour recently? Did you meet her afterwards? Maybe you should tell her what you think of Wilderness ..wonder what she'd think. I guess maybe you're one of THOSE fans who's mostly into 'the hits' and doesn't care much for a different approach.

Hi bryan,

yes, im not the biggest fan of wilderness - and alot of SBH fans agree that it is not her best work - the only reason i brought it was in support of her and her new indie label. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and just because i like her two most commercially succesful albums, doesn't mean im one of THOSE fans. There is a reason both Tougnes & Whaler sold better than Wilderness & Timbre, because those two albums are better

And no, i have not seen her on tour - unfortuantly she has not made her way to NZ for a concert yet.
