I've been blonde for as long as I can remember (with the exception of rash visits to Walgreen's on a boring Saturday night) but am considering going to another color, but I love being blonde...do blondes have more fun?
What's your hair color and do you think it affects how much fun you have or how seriously you are taken? |

Um - I think blonds tend to get treated differently, sometimes in a good way like their hair color opens a door and sometimes in a bad like they are presumed idiots. But, I think all that is the initial reaction and the merit shines through after a few minutes of interaction.

I always get the "hope this doesn't offend you" before I hear a blonde joke. I definitely get the "idiot" attitude sometimes too. |

I dyed my hair blonde before I went to England...well, it was more highlighted than dyed completely, but whatevah. My hair was a lot shorter back in 2003 as well. I don't think I was treated any differently than I am as a brunette. I colored my hair a copper tone earlier this year and I LOVE it, and will probably use that color again after I go get my hair layered within the next few months.
I do get treated differently by people due to the way I look (not due to my hair). People are always saying "Are your parents around?" or something like that because I look like a teen. I'll be 30 next year.

Blonde here. If my hair color ever gave me special treatment, whether good or ill, I have never been aware of it.
Seeing as women take the brunt of the blonde jokes, I can laugh fiendishly along ![]() |

i love being a blond... i dyed my hair brown once and left it like that for about 6 months and i noticed that i was totally treated differently. first off, guys didn't check me out as much- maybe it's just that i didn't look good as a brunette, but i don't know. also, store clerks, food servers, parking valets and any other stranger i'd meet in public and have to talk to for one reason or another- weren't as friendly as when i was (am) blonde... i could normally look someone in the eyes and smile and they'd look at me and smile back, but as a brunette, people would turn away or not even look at me in the first place. maybe it was just that I don't look good as a brunette, but i was so happy to be a blonde again!

I grew up blonde, and kept my hair long and blond until my mid twenties. At that time, in San Francisco, all of the women in my scene seemed to have dark hair, and my hair was starting to look dingy from lack of sunlight, so I dyed it red, like a henna. I noticed an instaneous differnece from my female friends, like they sudenly "got" me. Women who previously didn't seem to like me much, suddenly opened up and inlcded me. I think several of my friends who grew up in Calif had felt oppressed by the tyranny of blondness in Southern Calif. and a few of them admitted that they had trouble relating to me before. It made a little sad. there is no way for me to know if my attitude changed, and then my itneractions changed or not.
When the red faded, it left my hair an uninteresting shade of brown (not a pretty brown) so I made it more red - on and on until I had a sort oburgundy bright auburn purple shade that I really loved. I wore more makeup dressed up more, and became addicted to red, It was a lot of work to keep it up, and after 8 yearws of mixing Manic Panic,I finally let it grow out, and returned to my blonde, which is lighter than I remember (probably some white in there now) and I haven't noticed how people react to it, as I don't care anymore. Sometimnes, I miss that dramatic witchy color though. I should buy a new wig!

I've always had dark hair and eyes, and for some reason, this means (to men) that I am "mysterious".
Whatever. But I have loads of fun as a brunette and wouldn't change to blond. I have been thinking about going red for a while though. Maybe a dark auburn or something. Personally, I've always been attracted to dark haired men. I don't think I've ever been attracted to a blond (no offense).
